The game itself has not been updated in like 2 months. So check you system. What has updated? Driver for GPU and Windows, Adrenaline if you run it. Bios or any other changes. The smallest one can make a difference. That is also the point that the shaders start loading. Might try to open and start several times. To see if shaders will load.

I'm having that issue too. Everything is updated, including driver. Anyone find a solution?

Are you running an AMD GPU? I have heard of people having issues after updating their drivers for it.

Something to try.

Make sure the game is not running in the background. If it is - kill it.

Go to ‘C:\Users<your-user>\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved’ and delete everything except for the ‘SaveGames’ folder (if you have it)

Next go to ‘C:\ProgramData\Hogwarts Legacy’ and delete everything except for the ‘NotAllowedUnattendedBugReports’ file

Start the game and it should take some time to properly prepare the shader cache for real this time and if the game will open properly now.

Yes, then it eat's up resources and may not open trying to redo the Shader Cache. This is not a good idea. Especially if they are having issues already.

If the game already doesn't open then doing this can't make it any worse lol it's actually a really good idea to try.

Not since it was working just days ago. The sharder cache is probably not the issue in this case. It should still be intact. If you are going to go as far as doing all that, might as well uninstall and reinstall the game.

I have exactly the same problem. I haven't played the game for months and have completely reinstalled it. Unfortunately, according to the task manager, it only opens briefly and then closes again.

Nah lol it takes 30 seconds to delete and 3-4 minutes to recreate the shader cache on midrange hardware. It could very well be an issue with the shaders (likely due to a GPU driver update causing the shader cache to not get recompiled correctly) since it sounds like it's crashing when trying to begin the validation/compilation process. There's no harm in deleting that and letting the game recreate them and it most certainly isn't a bad idea to do.

Also, saying you shouldn't try this because it "eats up resources" is just ignorant. It lasts all of a few minutes and then all those resources are freed right back up...

More than a few minutes. Don't make it personal. Did I call you ignorant...No I think not...

Nothing personal, just stating a fact. It took 41 seconds to compile shaders for me with a 7800X3D. Shader validation takes 23.

lol okay

Just to state the obvious- Nvidia just put out a new graphic driver update a couple of days ago. I did see something where someone complained the new update was causing problems (on a different game). So, try a roll back if you are are up to date or install the update if you are not up to date.
