Don';t get me wrong the game its insanely good as a game but the stuttering and lags are just crazy to see on Unreal Stutter 4.5
RTX 4090
64 GB DDR5 /6000Mhz
Ryzen 9800x3d(the fastest CPU in the world

Are you trying to over run the game? What settings are you using. I run a RTX 3060 12Gb and have no issues. You could have the best RIG in the world, but you have to run what the game will run at. Not your specs.

And is the game installed on an SSD or a platter.

One question, can you get stable 60fps if you limit the fps?

Can you tell me your specs?
I play with an 4070 ti and had to drop the game, due to the bad performance.

still runs like crap for me, stutter fest in hogsmeade, currently on Ryzen 9900X, 4090, 64gb ram, running max settings @ 4k. I capped my fps to 90, still stutters, just horrible, unacceptable.

Try Ascendio III mod and let us know your results.

Anyone that describes their computer as a "rig" makes me instantly suspect. I can run the game at 4k, 60+fps with no lags or stutters (Ultra preset) on a 7900xt/32G/7600X on Linux. You need to take a hard look at how your hardware is actually configured.

I have a ryzen 5 1600 paired with a damn RX6600 and im getting around 130 with DLSS-FG mod (DLSS Enabler) and around 80 without FG and just the modded upscaler (which is XeSS for now), that is an example of how bottlenecked I am and I've managed to get a somewhat descent experience, So here is what I'll share, you can try and hopefully it works.

the mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/757?tab=files&file_id=4082

adittionaly Im playing with a DiskCacheEnabler mod hopefully for the engine to access the drive buffer more efficiently (taken from Horizon Forbidden West)

https://www.nexusmods.com/horizonforbiddenwest/mods/100

Mods install in Hogwarts legacy /phoenix/binaries/win64 where the main .exe is.

and my engine.ini settings located in local/hogwarts legacy/saved/config/windowsnoeditor

[SystemSettings]
r.bForceCPUAccessToGPUSkinVerts=True
r.GTSyncType=1
r.OneFrameThreadLag=1
r.FinishCurrentFrame=0
r.TextureStreaming=1
r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1
r.Tonemapper.Quality=0

[ConsoleVariables]
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdates=1
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesDuringGamethreadUpdates=1
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesEditor=1

Important note, where it says "rStreaming.PoolSize=XXXX" here you introduce a number according to your GPU VRAM

r.Streaming.PoolSize = 2048 for a Graphics Card with 4Gb VRAM

r.Streaming.PoolSize = 3072 for a Graphics Card with 6Gb VRAM

r.Streaming.PoolSize = 4096 for a Graphics Card with 8Gb VRAM

r.Streaming.PoolSize = 6144 for a Graphics Card with 12Gb VRAM

(basically HALF of the VRAM is what you assign to the poolsize)

With all of this being said, OF COURSE there will be at least micro stuttering but it is minimal, mostly around the transfiguration cortyard, dark arts tower and hogsmeade a bit more than usual, but give it a try, who knows. Worked for me on a budget system. So yesm I'll drop my tiny contribution on stuff I did but should be the same, remember, 6core CPU from 2017, 16gb of DDR4 2666mhz and 8gb of vram. 1080p mid-high settings, well over 120fps all times (with FG enabled via DLSS being tricked and HAGS disabled in windows)

I have very minimal lag and I'm running an i5-8400 with a 1060 6gb. I may have next to none now that I disabled DLSS, but I've yet to test.

Edit: thats at 60fps

Thats weird, im using a 9600k and the game runs like ****

Is the stuttering happening often when casting spells? If so, make sure to turn off RGB peripherals. You can find that option in settings, under the "gameplay options" tab.
WeirdScienceX Dec 7, 2024 @ 11:07am
The game has always had horrible performance, I haven't tried it on my new machine but on my old 5950X/3090 the stuttering was terrible.
Chris Dec 8, 2024 @ 4:44am
What a load of nonsense honestly.
Trying to blame 'over running' the game or hardware configs.
The game runs like crap on high end hardware like 4090 and now seeing even top CPU like a 9800x3d can't overcome its shortcomings.
Solutions like limiting the frames to 60 or ascendio or any kind of modding are a joke tbh.

Here's a vid from someone who knows what they're talking about on a range of setups and the frame time spikes and large fps dips are gonna happen in sections of the game regardless.

The game is hard to run no mather what setup one have.

Make sure your Shader-fastbuffer sice in the Nvidia controllpannel is sett to 100GB if you can.
Don`t run the game with ray tracing. It takes A LOT of Fps !!! ( i only have Ambient Occlusion on in rat tracing ) Only usefull when looking for Ancient portals.

Adjust image settings if needed. Not everything needs to be sett to max...

Use Nvidia Frame Generation. It`s the only thing helping get a higher fps.
Sett a FPS cap in game. Try 144 fps. It helps the game run a bit better.

Althow, the latest driver update seems to have done something to the Frame Generation. It does not run so smood as before :-/ Now se a lot more ghosting with Frame Generation.

Idk man the only place I lag at is one room inside the castle, I think its where the musician paintings are? I think it's due to me running it on a HDD as it's the only thing that maxes out on task manager. To be fair, all my settings are on low and I have done quite a few things in the past to get the most out of my parts. Changing CPU clock speed, Changing a ton of NVIDIA driver settings, ect.

I run GTA 5, AC games, and many others smoothly. Everytime I end up having any lag at all I go down rabbit holes on different settings I can change to further optimize my part usage, I find it fun reading different methods whether its changing a base windows setting with command prompt of what have you. Before I even ran Hogwarts I disabled DLSS and few other things in the NVIDIA control panel.
