Progression Bug... Please help.

So I started a new Male Slytherin character, got to central hall where fig asks you to open you field guide so he can show the clever enchantment, I oipen th efield guide and it goes to open and then freezes.
things Ive tried:
Verify game files, Disabled steam overlay, uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted appdata save game files switched to windowed mode, disabled all raytracing and hdr,, turned off full screen optimisations.
My system is a 4090 with 7800X3D, Alienware A3423DWF.
Any help would be appreciated.

So if anyone encounters this bug, there is a way around it, whatever you do don't talk to fig, go into the field guide and choose to go to either charms or DADA class and go outside, then come back into the hall and talk to fig, and the game will progress as normal,
Why this happens is anyone's guess, first time encountering it with many play through's, what can I say, I love the game. But this one bug had me stumped, anyways, that's the fix I come up with.
