Hence, I cannot spend hours sitting in front of my computer playing introduction, it makes me begin from the moment I take control of my character, over and over again. It makes this game boring at the same moment when I thought that it was fun. This is really sinister. I do not blame the person who made it (he or she did not understand what they were doing), I blame the person who approved this. Because the only person who can decide when I stop playing is me. And I do not need to accommodate my life to the game, but the game should be filling in my life.
Sorry, but I am really angry that we pay money, and we are treated in this way.
Thanks for being specific outlining the issues with not being able to save the game when you the owner wishes to do so.I for one will not be purchasing this game ..thanks for the heads up
Most games have at least two or even three system for creating save games, one is the manual mode (in some cases you can assign a key bind), second is an automatic time based save that in some case create a quick save - which could mean less data are being saved to keep save game files small enough until you decide to quit game which then make a complete save game (and there is sometimes option to key bind for quick save) and then the third option is check point saves where save game are created before major event in case your player character would die and you can restart from that point in game.
As for need to shutting down you computer, why not use Sleep mode or Hibernate mode as both mode should let your computer go down into low power state without the need to quit your game and then you can get back where you where when you press a key or mouse?
As long you can create a save game manually and also have a time based auto save, then you should not loose too much progression if game will crash, you would quit game without creating a new save game manually or when your character would die.
Technically there is also the issue with how large each save game file should become as the longer you play the more data would be needed to be stored from your progression which can grow rather large and hit into limitation of your storage device free space to store, there is also the issue with loading time when you use large game saves that need to be first read into game before game can start to show anything.
For some reasons, which i cannot explain, when I put my computer to sleep, while this game is on, it wakes up again after a while, and runs until I discover it some hours later. This is why I have to shut it down. Sorry, I already tried that. It does not change the fact that the non-saving function sucks. And it is truly sad, because it looks like a nice, well done game.
There are some bug with MS Windows sleep mode that can happen that it wake up without any user interaction (there are too many wake up processing that can happen from hardware like Wifi/LAN to Windows itself checking for Updates which wake up computer from sleep mode). Had it happen myself, but it is still an option if you are leaving your computer for short time.
Anyway when you are out of the main introduction to game (tutorial) can you then save game? 157 min is almost 3 hour and that sounds a bit too long before any save game will be created.
I don't own this game, so this is what I could find about how to save game for Hogwart:
https://www.theloadout.com/hogwarts-legacy/save-game
Answer is yes for manual save. Game auto save me after opening cutscene, after riding banks go karts, after first fight, after second fight and before first pensive.
Probably not auto save but let's call it a checkpoint.
Thank you all for your help and kind words. Happy gaming.
