That's why i always assume there is manual save somewhere way before this happen.
I always save before i quit and i always exit though normal method (never Alt+F4), and most of the time i might save 2-3 times on same position just in case one of them fails to load at some point. (i'm paranoid) Depending on game i also save before i do something (like attack on strategy game)
True, always better to be save than sorry.
I don't really mind auto saving, most of the time its useful, what i would hope for is not to reduce it just one, have several that game then rewrite overtime. For what i can find, there should be option in this games menu where auto save can be turn off.
I guess it makes games easier and gives at least some form of hope that player doesn't need to worry not to lose as much progress like in early 2000 when auto save did not exist, only checkpoint and manual/saving in certain places like bonfire in dark souls. Or like original mafia that have only checkpoint.
