The poltergeist bug in the shop in Hogsmeade quest

After destroying the mannequins in the garden, the next cutscene does not start. The poltergeist just hangs in the air and does nothing. The passage to the stairs does not open. Rebooting doesn't help. Please help me. What to do?

Hang out. He gives up and slaps the student across the face. I sat there for a good 2 minutes with the idiot hanging in the air.

Sometimes you have to kickstart the next stage of that encounter by jumping off the ledge which will reset the player but not reset the whole encounter.

Well damn, I was hoping this was going to be the answer, but I've been standing and waiting for him to do something for over 5 mins. Still just floating there like a goon. Tried jumping off a bunch too, hell, I even cleared the floor of all movable items out of boredom...Guess I'm stuck here til they fix it..

Just kidding..Apparently I had to complain on here for the poltergeist to pay attention to me.

(Panic set in as I almost died, tabbing back to the game to defend myself against the second wave of mannequins.)

Still took 10 minutes after the first wave of mannequins before he hit me with the second set of them, then another 2 minutes of floating before slapping me.

I used incendio to blast all the mannequins, but in doing so I blasted some of the active furniture over the edge. I waited over 10mins for another wave of mannequins, restarted, jumped off the ledge and nothing helped. Finally I noticed some furniture highlighted in the water when I looked down so gave it a blast and then the weirdo came down and gave me a slap.
