Hogwarts Legacy crashing High end pc.
I bought the game as soon as it was released and I haven’t had a single problem. 7 months or so later Im trying to play it but it would crash after 10-20minutes. It won’t give any error code and i don’t know if its even possible to fix it as I’ve read that vast majority is having the same problem after the last update I believe. I’ve tried every fix I found even playing it on the version before an update but it doesn’t help. Anything i can do? Or it’s just not gonna work?

Pc:
RTX 4080
i9 13900k
32gb ram

I have the same spec's, most likely not a hogwarts thing but a Windows thing, I haven't crashed once.

Did you only upgrade your GPU? If so, did you reinstall the GPU driver? Even though they're both Nvidia cards sometimes not reinstalling the driver can cause problems. Also, did the game recompile shaders when starting the game for the first time with the new GPU?

If you upgraded other components, namely your CPU, then that might be the issue. 13th gen Intel CPUs don't play nicely with a lot of games because Intel's thread scheduler is absolutely terrible. Also if you've undervolted or overclocked your CPU then that could also be the issue as that's also a common problem with 13th gen Intel CPUs.

Try deleting the shader cache for the game here: C:\ProgramData\Hogwarts Legacy
And then try using DDU to completely uninstall your GPU driver and reinstall that if you haven't done so already (even though it's from Intel's site it's a universal program): https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html

Mine (RTX 4070 laptop) is doing the same but my latest tweak was turning off frame generation (saw a comment on YouTube where somebody said that fixed his issue). Since then it hasn’t crashed (yet). Still need to test it more though. Try that? Either way this game is DEFINITELY bugged.

No, I've build this pc so every part is new and the one that had rtx 3080 is old time sold.
i did oc my cpu but for instance cyberpunk is running on everything ultra without any problems whatsoever so i don't think its because of oc. Temps and everything else is always stable. I'll check the link you gave me.

That’s because it requires an RTX 40 series card. When implemented correctly it’s designed to improve performance not break it lol. The devs have some work to do (assuming that is the issue I can’t be certain yet still need to test some more). The new avatar game which in many ways is even more graphically intensive seems to perform much better!

It doesn't really matter if some games work, every piece of software is different. A lot of games, DX12 Unreal Engine 4 and 5 games in particular, don't work properly with 13th gen Intel CPUs when they're undervolted or overclocked.

Yeah that’s sad.. and it doesn’t seem like they’re even working on fixing it.

Intel should be working on fixing it but they either can't because of some fundamental design flaw with the hardware itself or they just don't want to because it wouldn't be financially viable for them to do so. Epic should also be looking into it on their end but again, probably a fundamental flaw with Unreal that would be too expensive to fix. It even happens with the actual Unreal Engine editor and Epic has never bothered fixing it.

Did you upgrade to win11 or Install from scratch? had a few windows errors that transferred over when I upgraded.
