black screen when starting

I just decided to get back into this game, and when I hit play, I hear the music, but the screen is just black. Any advise on how to make the game work?

Same issue here :c just re-installed the game and the issue persists

It is normal (for me) that you first get the shader reload, or whatever it is called screen, and then it goes black for a bit. ( I think you lose the music as well if I remember right) It should come back when it is near the end of the process and then the next screen will be the Hogwarts Legacy start screen.

On my old 12 year old computer it took about 10 minutes the first time and 5 minutes on subsequent loads from scratch.

On my new super nice computer it takes about 2 minutes to get to the Hogwarts screen from scratch- but I still get the same shader render, black screen, shader render comes back at the end and then the Hogwarts Legacy start screen- it just happens a lot quicker.

hmm...i cant even see the shader thing. I know what your talking about, as I remember loading the game when it came out and having that, but the black screen entirely prevents you from seeing anything. Task manager says it freezes

I am having this issue and it's 4 hours later. I see the warning sign. Then black screen and then music, nothing else. Then I hear music but when I use the task manager it says Hogwarts not responding. So I guess I will just have it on see if it actually loads in 2 to 5 mins.

When that happens to me, I just use task manager to force quit the game and try again. It usually works the second time, although you need to be patient for the shader compilation.

Same here, I just hear the music and black screen doesn't disappear. Task manager says not responding. I am using RTX 3050 and latest nvidia pilot 546.17; on windows 10.
