Hogwarts Legacy is the real GOTY 2023...

The Golden Joysticks today made me realize that the award ceremonies are absolutely bought and owned. Its a shame how politicized everything is, even to the point where HL content was banned from TikTok and Youtube Shorts. They gave not only HL no love, but Starfield no love. Says a lot.

Every other game in the running this year is a sequel, a remake, wasn't in a new setting, was in early access and is still a buggy mess (CoughCough BG3). They brought nothing new to the table.

HL brought so much freshness to the table. The true players GOTY 2023.


Edit: Not only does Hogwarts Legacy hold a higher all time player count than BG3 by some thousands, but it also was in fact soft banned on social media. People who had a following could still post the content, but it was banned from the algorithms, so it could no longer "go viral"... Those saying otherwise, your comments hold no merit.

I agree, that these awards are instrumentalized and politicized, but if you even attempt to convey that either HL or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Starfield is even close to the quality of BG3, you are trolling.

What freshness are you talking about? This game is as standart as every open world game the last 10+ years. Sure, the map is nicely done, doesn´t excuse the bad story and stock standart sidestuff to do.

A big nono is the bad performance this game has, like most UE4 do. And my system is fairly beefy.

Is see no reason why this game should have GOTY. Like, at all.

Hogwarts Legcy, even if people end up voting for another game to be Game of the Year, absolutely should have been nominated.

But when the journalists have 90% of the vote and the players only have 10%, and the journalists were going out of their way to try and get this game to fail leading up to its launch then it is unfortunate but this game never had a chance.

The Game of the Year awards are driven by political idealogues and this game is something those people would never touch.

Ah well, this game still will sell better and have more hours played by gamers than any other game on the nominee list....with the exception of BG3 because that game is still in the top most played lists.

We don't need to tear them down, just ignore them. Heck, it looks like Kotaku might be next on the chopping block after Jezebel was shut down and they're owned by the same company. Venture capital has run out for the gaming journalists websites and if they can't get the views from gamers, and they can't since they alienated all of us, well they are on a timer.

Which in turn devalues every other award at the show. If the journalists will snub a game for reasons outside the game then they will vote for and prop up other games for reasons that have nothing to do with the games either.

Nah, there where controversial games at game awards in the past. And absolutly nobody talks about the Hogwarts Legacy controversy anymore because nobody cares. You just have to accept the fact that HL simply isn´t good enough to be nominated for GOTY.

This game is so standart, you could mistake it for a Ubisoft title. That's no hate tho, i actually liked HL. But im not delusional enough to think that it is in the same ball park like BG3.
