Game breaking bug on Percival's Trials
There's a game breaking bug that is present in a MAIN STORY QUEST
called Percival's Trial. You cannot view Percival's memory. It was an issue since day one, but there used to be a workaround (restart quest) - it doesn't work anymore
I repeat, an AAA game, has a game breaking bug FOR A WHOLE MONTH, a bug that does not let you progress through the story. This is not an indie company, you could fix it in an hour. It's been a month.

Can anyone please suggest any solution? I've tried reinstalling the game and defeated
that boss 5 times now, it just doesn't work.

Summarizing what I've read from other threads:

It was mentioned that in order to get through this situation, you need to set the game's FPS to 60, turn on V-sync from your GPU's control panel, and turn off the game's V-sync Off, and THEN start the quest, see it through, and then fix your settings back the way you had them when you finish.

Another solution mentioned, was saving right before entering the final guardian, and proceed. If the objective changes to "Defeat The guardians", then the quest will end, if not, reload, and re-try.

A Third option that worked for someone, was to completely ignore the wiggenweld potion chest before the last fight.

This is the main reason I'm reluctant to start a new playthrough here, as I don't wish to stuck to this situation. Thankfully, I've finished the game more than once. I guess my Gryffindoor student will have to wait for a fix...

I haven't tried any of those yet. This sounds absurd but it might just work. Thank you.

Wigenweld chest doesn't work. Graphics settings didn't work, but why would they not allow a quest to change seems goofy. I did get a save before that fight in the room prior, I've tried 6 or so times. I did a quest reset. The only thing that worked was finding an old save from 1 alt that was past the bug. So I did enjoy 20 or so hours left of stuff to do. I encountered 1 other non game breaking bug I never had before. They last downdate really broke a lot of things all over. They need to hire better people for quality control.

What a damn shame, I had hoped that something would've worked... I mean, it seems that it did for some people...

Ironically, the latest patch was meant to FIX this issue, as it's there from launch, but was easily avoided by restarting the quest... I guess the patch broke it completely...

Yes I've got the same issue. I cannot progress, I have tried everything. I think they're working on it now but it's honestly been much too long.

No joke my friend, you should check older threads in the discussions section! I simply summarized what was mentioned, in case something (as if) was to work.

Hmmm..... Maybe if we cast Obliviate on the trial, it may forget about the bug and let us get through it without remembering to glitch! :steammocking:

Well, all that stuff, did work for some people, so if you're frustrated and nothing worked for you, then I guess all you can do, is wait for a fix, or downgrade to the previous version of the game, and stick with it, if you have the disk space and patience.

Maybe it was pure luck, or maybe it just happened, and it was sheer coincidence, or maybe your rig is too old (or too new) for this game to work properly. Too many variables, as a PC isn't "fixed" like a console, and even with the same hardware, you will get different results.

Oh and..... speaking of which, solution #1 worked for me. Surprise, Surprise! Didn't expect that at all, to be honest, after what I've been reading so far...

I was reluctant to start a new character as it would take forever to reach the trial, and I simply reloaded a save from an old one I had since i bought the game (multiple saves FTW) in order to check it out. I have said character since early March, was the first one I finished teh game with.

Considering I already play with a 60 FPS cap and with game V-Sync on, I walked (yes, walked) through the entire quest, opened up all chests, did all that had to be done, and I didn't get the bug. Could be a coincidence, sheer luck, or it could be a one time thing. I didn't try a second time.

Perhaps the bug might affect new characters, deluxe edition owners, or those who claimed the Ronan robes. I really don't know...

I haven't played the game since the latest patch, and what i DID notice however, was a "border" around my character when i turned the camera, as if having a faint "mouse trails" effect, and some wacky black triangle shapes that were appearing here and there from time to time, when ancient magic was triggered.

Edit: If you ask me, the devs have no excuse for keeping a game breaking bug for this long active, and they definitely need to address it, as soon as possible.

I'm glad it worked for you, truly! Nothing has worked for me, unfortunately. They should obviously work on fixing this bug.
David Puddy May 25, 2023 @ 7:58am
i also heard, if you fart twice, spin 5 times on your chair, pull one of your hairs out, quack like a duck 7 times, this will also fix it! Please try it, let me know how it goes, hahahahah:steammocking:
Is there any way to contact devs to fix this quicker? I'm seriously considering getting a refund, I'm sure Steam Support will give it, since it's you literally can't continue the story.

this is what in fact did work for me i had already downloaded all version since release to try and get past the shader loading error that broke my game in march, none of them worked but kept them on disc, but i did find some strange lines in my engine ini and just for $hits and giggles removed them all off a sudden the game loaded beyond shaders and i was able to play again after 2 months . then i get to the rackams error and stopped dead again. rolled the game back one patch and had an old save from april ,loaded it up and while i had the no voice error and also couldnt interact with fig outside the tower ,i changed the lanquage to german and the voice came back, i played thru the tear drop completed the mission and put the newest version back in and im rolling allong, ill have to wait till they fix the bug for the other to charactes to play but at least i got past the bug.
