Delete character option removed

How does one delete a character on PC? The option for delete has a circle with a line through it which suggests it is not possible. Everything I see says press "Y" to delete, but this does nothing, nor does pressing any other key as far as I am aware. Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting. There were quite a number of reports from players who had accidentally deleted their character, because the controls for accessing the "Options" page were the same as the one for deleting a character. Whether you deleted the character or got to the Options page, depended on whether your mouse cursor happened to be on a character entry or not.

Perhaps this was a quick fix to prevent that from happening. Physically removing the respective save file from the drive, as suggested above, might work, though.

You can go into the Settings and change the key that is assigned to it. The character will still have that weird message, but you will be able to delete a character again

Maybe I am missing it, but I have been all trough the key assignments and can't find the one that missing. Any suggestions?

Because the devs are having some hard times you must delete them manually. I uploaded a photo showing where on your PC (Win 11) the save files are located.

Sorry, was away. For me (on PC), you can find the Key binding by right-clicking on the character selection screen, and then go down to the option called PC CONTROL OPTIONS, 6th one down, looks like a mouse. If you then scroll down all the way to the bottom and find the section called FRONTEND. You should see the first one in that section is called something like [SETTINGSCONTROL_UMGFRONTEND_DELETE... Add a key binding in the right hand box and then you can go back to the character selection. Pointing at a character you will still see the [INPUTOPTIONS... there, but if you press your new key bind, it will bring up the Delete Character menu and you can delete the charactrer.

@progman62 - Unfortunately that does not work. It appears that the character deletion and Settings are joined at the hip so changing/adding a secondary keybind only brings up settings even when hovering over a character.

It became r3 now, but mostly doesn't show up.

Try r3. as in the stick, but clicked in.

It was changed to r3, but it bugs up and gives a dumb error most of the time.

I’ve tried R3 with an Xbox controller and tried to delete the save game folder with no luck. Did they remove this option completely? I’d like to start a new character but my save files are used up.

What worked for me was to copy all the files from the /Paks directory (your mods) into a temp folder. Then I went into Steam, right clicked the game, selected Properties/Local Files and Verify integrity of game files. The game needs some of the files from the /Paks directory to run, but I didn't know which ones and verifying the game reinstalled them.

Open up the game and the circle with the line through it is replaced by the backspace key. I was able to delete the unwanted character. Then close the game, copy the mod files back into the /Paks directory and start the game again. You should be good to go with an empty slot.
