Can i run it smoothly
Hello everyone

Maybe it has already been asked but i didn't find it out. I'm wondering about buying this game for my potter-fan GF on PC, because she talks about it all day long and she only has PS4 so she has to wait for the release. I'm not sure about the fact that my PC can run it smoolthy so i'm asking to you guys.

Here is my config : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600KF CPU @ 3.70GHz + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (classic not Super version) + 16Gb RAM + SDD. I'm using a 2K screen.

What do you think guys ? Thanks a lot

Yes, your performance should be similar. Set to medium or low CPU-intensive graphics settings (read descriptions to find which ones) and you'll be fine

I changed the 2070 for a 770 arc gunnir (rare to get) - sons pc. Now it runs very smooth on wqhd, before...... terrible since the last patch. The game is not optimized for nvidia gpus at this time. intel - amd ............................. nvidia. I have a 4070ti and sometimes stutter (wqhd), test the card from my son and it runs better - no stutter/lags - less fps but thats no problem for me. :)
Just bought this game and for the life of me can't get it to run smoothly. i7 and RTX3080 and even on the lowest possible settings this game runs terrible ... Contemplating a refund to be fair since this is the only game I have (and I have a lot of them) that runs so incredibly bad.

Not to diminish the immense frustration and aggravation so many are having with this game, using Nvidia hardware, but:

I got HL just 3-4 days ago. On my i7-13770k, 3080ti, 32gb dddr5, M.2 ssds, Win 11 pro. Playing using the default/recommended graphics settings suggested for my rig; it runs smooth as butter @ 4k, 60fps.

I am using the older 531.18 nvidia driver package (game ready, not studio). I do not use Geforce Experience. When I update/change gpu drivers, I use DDU to completely remove the previous version before manually performing a clean install (while disconnected from the internet) of whichever package I want to try.

The truth is that the game runs even better on SteamDeck than on any NVidia hardware.

I have an Nvidea GTX1060 and my game has run perfectly smoothly since I bought it - no issues at all.

As for the Ops question, its a bit of a lottery whether the game will run without stutters on your computer, your GF might be better getting a new console, but you can always try it out for 2 hrs

On low settings the only issue you might run into is ram at 2k. I run this thing at 2k and had to upgrade ram in my last pc to 32 gb because in some places on the map it was maxing out. With 32gb i see it hit 22gb ram utilization at times. I also would see it use over 9gb Vram at times too on the GPU which had 12GB. My last pc was 12400f with RTX 3060 12GB so had to drop settings a lot mostly around medium with textures to high. I was seeing around 70fps most times rarely dropping below 60fps.

She might have a better experience just playing it at 1080p.

No? The most "problems" are with nvidia cards

It's a very special, one of a kind, phase locked, typographical error. ;-)

I think you could get away with medium settings, most RTX off though.

Source: Myself. I had a 2070 super, paired with a CPU on par with that. It would probably barely run this game on high with half the ray tracing effects turned off. @ 1080p

Start off with medium settings for sure

It has performance issues for sure, poor RT implementation as well.

Played on pretty much same system as yours, on 1920x1080 though

I had about 75-85 fps average and 144 locked in closed areas on tweaked high settings. You’ll be fine running it on 2K with little bit less fps, but more then playable
