Merlin trial

Each pillar has 4 dots on it and what looks like half of a yin-yang symbol. The pillars light up but no spell seems to have an effect. I also can't interact with them. I already scattered the leaves at the center.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are 5 or 6 different puzzle types. You have to figure them out.

Sometimes you might light 3 posts on fire, all at the same time, sometimes you must bring butterflies to a column, sometimes you must match symbols, sometimes you destroy or repair, sometimes ..... Enough spoilers huh?

You need the Flipendo spell.
With which you can switch the symbols around.
You need to align them so the symbol on the cube matches the symbol on the pillar below.

It's not the firefly one is it? You gotta find those fire guys and lumos them back to the pillars.

Ah yeah, that might be correct. I may have gotten the OP wrong about the trial.
I hadn't much issue with the firefly one, after the butterfly riddles in Hogwarts, even though gathering these is sometimes ugly if they are somewhere hidden behind a wall.

But my worst nightmare are these Flipendo-things.

Even though they are easy to solve, it still annoys me to flip these cubes around and around until they match.
As the later ones in the southern areas have some symbols that look almost the same and only one really differs.
So they leveled from annoying to hideous.

I see no cubes, or anything that looks like you could switch it.

How would I know if I needed fireflies or butterflies?

So far, no spell has an effect (though I don't have Flipendo).

Well, my problem is that there doesn't seem to be any hints as to the nature of this particular puzzle. I can't interact and no spell has an effect. I just remembered I haven't tried Revelio - maybe that will help.

What about the roll the ball into the circle type, run and jump as fast as you can over the boulders.I never figured out the what the OP is talking about too.

Try blasting the pillars with Confringo.

If its the ones with a hole in the (a bit above) middle, its butterflyes.
