It's basically Mad Max just with more magic and less desert, hand to hand- and car-combat.
And absolutely no gore (I actually forgot how gory Mad Max was, until I recently booted it up again. What a game... WHAT A LOVELY GAME. XD)

No?

You don't have any weapons beyond a wand and you don't assassinate anybody.
Combat involves matching spells to the color of defensive shields.
You spend a lot of time flying around on a broomstick and popping balloons.

There's no blood. Heck, there aren't even bodies which linger after combat in HL.

There are similarities, yes. The open worlds of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Hogwarts Legacy have been built following the same principles: lots of very casual activities that are minimal variations of otherwise identical tasks. Also, both games are action-adventures featuring quests, exploration, puzzles, and combat. Which surprised some people who expected Hogwarts Legacy to be more like a "school life in the wizarding world" simulator with a gameplay loop similar to Rockstar's Bully.

But you could draw the same comparison between Hogwarts Legacy and, say, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Lots of modern open-world games follow this formula, it's not exclusive to Assassin's Creed. Though the Assassin's Creed franchise was among the first to go all-in on it starting with Origins.

I do like how they hid crouch-stealth behind a spell and backstab behind another spell. ...but for the most part, that's where the similarities end.

Would be interesting to see student parkouring all over the place, though. Climbing very specific short walls doesn't really count in my opinion.

Agreed.

I still don't get why people always come with Ubisoft?
Is that the new CoD compare?

WB Games only publishes games, BUT if you really are into the AAA-titles from this publisher, you should know that they have their formula since Batman Arkham Asylum, when it comes to Open World Games within specific franchises.
Regardless which developer works on, there are similarities within the game. Which means WB Games, has an agenda which the developer has to fulfill.

Playing Batman, Mad Max, Shadow of Mordor / War, will make you recognize this formula.

Ubisoft has its own.

Hate it, love it, don't care about it, have fun with it.
Whatever.

Fast Traveling is a thing since Ocania of Time (1998) btw (as I previously read that fast traveling was an argument for the Ubisoft formula.)
