I'm not sure what you mean by "highlighted"?
The fact that Revelio makes them glow, doesn't really mean anything. All non-hostile animals do. The Thestrals in the barn of Hogwarts glow blue as well, you can't do anything with those either (as far as I'm aware).
They have that white outline on them that everything has that is interact-able. When you target a mob you see it. When you have a box you can accio (or whatever) you see it. Herbs you can pick you see it. That's what I mean by highlighted.
And thanks for answering me, I'll stop trying to tame them now that I know they're just there for atmosphere. I could have sworn though, I read somewhere that things that are interactive would have that white outline around them. Maybe because they're beasts we can tame out in the wild they have it, but because they're in the store they have a special code that makes them not tamable.
The blue glow is suppose to represent things we can utilize or do something with. Such as a section of a wall we can blow up to open a passage way or the Merlin's Maze (Maze? I'm not in the game at the moment) platform and items we need to do something with to complete it. That was another indicator that lead me to believe we should be able to do something with those beasts.
From a dev standpoint, I'm taking a wild guess that they co-opted the Beasts system for the shop creatures which carried some of the visual artifacts with it. (keywords: wild guess)
The glowing animals are 'Collectibles' you have to sell enough of each one to Ellie Peck. O currently have 6 placed there via selling to her. Diricawl, Mooncalf, Puffskein, Fwooper, Jobberknoll and Giant purple toad. im currently farming the unicorn spawn point in dark forest and the hippogriff about 300m west to see if the large animals are also unlockable. the good thing is you can go back n forth to respawn them without having to wait ingame days to pass.
UGH- update - i just farmed a full bag of Hippogriffs and Unicorns, but when i went bk to sell them the 3 extras had.
2nd update, whatever you have collected enough of will randomly appear in her store like a changing inventory, after 10 mins my new niffler appeared, the giant toad reappeared (maybe it was hiding under her desk) and 2of the normal 3 vanished. in the space of 2 mins her shop went 1 3 5 animals on show. its random and annoying they really messed up having a trophy or reward for getting all magical beasts into her shop.
