Breaking red shield
Must I use a damage spell? All I have right now is Incendio (is that damage?) and it seems life you have to be close to the target. I'm trying to fight an Ashwinder Assassin (?) and I can't break their shield with Levioso or Accio. I feel like being close enough to use Incendio will cause me to take a lot of damage.

Thank you.

Think red shield is fire or something. Incendio have very short reach so get close and personal, spam the fire, levioso and hammer them down while dodging/blocking.
(or do as me and hammer all the buttons:lunar2019laughingpig:)

I believe the color of the spell icon correlates to the color of shield it works against.

Use any red spell: Incendio, Expelliarmus, Confringo, Bombarda or the cutting one (forgot the name)

To break any shield, you need to cast a spell of the same color. Yellow shields need yellow speels (like Levioso), purple shields need purple spells (like Accio), red shields need red spells (like Confringo). If you only have Incendio, then yes, its short range can be a problem.

However, Ancient Throw breaks any shield. So as long as there enough objects around to throw at the enemy, you don't have to worry about shield and spell colors at all.

It does. Use a spell of the same color to break shields. They made it really easy. When you unlock talents you can choose to have multiple presets of spells too. But, until then you will be taught that hitting the right directional (PS5 at least) lets you swap out spells.

You'll get other red spells like Expelliarmus later.

Don't hesitate to use any color though when you've broken the shield. Combos are devastating. And they do try to show them to you with the dueling club quests and dueling challenges.

For example, Leviosa an opponent, auto attack 4 times, Accio the opponent, do it again. That's a basic one you can use to keep an opponent stunlocked the entire time.

This is the easy answer just hold the block button down and counter with stupefy. It breaks any colored shield and stuns.

If you play on hard I suggest do professor hecat assignment first to get expelliarmus. It's the first long range damage spell you can learn. Ancient throw also destroy all shield. If you're not on hard mode just use stupefey.

Thank you, all.

Well, I think I have Stupefy: for that, all you do is hold down Protego, right?
ant_sh Mar 15, 2023 @ 6:30am
Mandrake also breaks all shields

I just read an article that said to cast Stupefy you hold Protego and throw basic cast. I thought you merely held Protego down and Stupefy automatically cast.
