is it possible, 2 copies of one game on singular account?
so I like to make a lot of characters for the games I play and honestly think this needs 8 (two for each house), I really don't mind the reptation, and I enjoy getting to know a game well enough to set my own paths for collections and such.

Anyway just wondering if its a possibility to buy a second copy of the same game on a singular account?? or if a separate steam account would be needed if wanting to purchase the same game?

On Steam, it isn't possible. Why would you want it, though? Even if you could have separate installs, all your installs of Hogwarts Legacy would still use the same settings and save data, as that is saved in a dedicated directory outside of the installation.

You can buy a second copy as a gift, and send it to a friend. You can't use the second copy in any way on your account, but if hoarding gifts is what you're after, that's doable. But you need to buy the gift copy on Steam. If you buy a key at a third-party store, try to redeem it, and you already own the game, then the key will be rejected - unless it contains something that you don't already have, like Deluxe content. In that case, the key would be consumed, you'd get the deluxe content, but you wouldn't get a second copy of the base game, so it's basically just a very expensive way to buy DLC content.

After you fill 4 slots you could backup your savegames then empty the folder and do 4 more.

When you want to swap them backup the second set then overwrite them with the backup of the first set.

We do something like this for games that only have one save slot so both kids can play and save thier own progress.

Can't you just copy your local savefile and make a new one and have infinite characters?

i don't want to hoard gift copies or anything that's not my intention, i just like having a lot of characters to swap between and as said in the original post i don't mind repetitiveness, prefer it actually :) ill try copying the local save file, but kinda nervous about emptying the folder even with the back up files cause i still want to be able to play on the files i have...
thank you everyone for the options!!
