Those animals spawn less frequently and will look different from the regular ones.

I think in time when DLC or expansions are released this might mean something but as of now it doesn't.

I do know from experiments though if you breed 2 shiny beasts you get a shiny offspring.

I'm going to counter this topic for those that say they are special

No one really knows, it's literally a mystery as to why that symbol is there, there were theories about it, but up to now, it really means nothing, although you can think it's special because it has the symbol, but no difference to having them compared to the normal variants

Star/+ Shiny Beasts: CAN look the same as a normal variant, they sell for the same amount, when breeding, the off-spring youngling CAN look the same as the parents who were breeding them, the off-spring youngling also sells for the same amount as all other beasts as well as they give the same amount of resources as its adult version as well

I have bred 2 normal white-tan like Kneazles and bred an off-spring of a bright yellow Kneazle, which in itself I thought was pretty unique, but neither parent nor off-spring itself were Shiny/Star/+ at all

I tried to quick reset the Graphorn multiple times and couldn't get a shiny variant to spawn after like 10 tries I gave up

You can quick reset any beast spawn location to refresh to newer spawns by simply, skipping time once, then fast traveling nearby to a Floo Flame, when returning all the beasts would be refreshed with newer spawns

Unless the developers can give us a real insight, there's really no difference, but I'm not saying don't collect them, by all means I'm still trying to get all the Shiny variants just because I think they still are very special and of course they're really CUTE

Good Luck & Have Fun :smiling:

I haven't encountered a single star beast that looks identical like the regular beasts (who tend to come in a regular variety anyways). Every star hippogriff for instance has been black. Never anything else for instance.

Kids don't grow without mods, they naturally seem to have a different color to their parents. So... I don't know how "shiny" works for them. So, I wouldn't consider it special in your case.
