How to defeat Ranrok Dragon

I understand hitting the orbs with the spells matching the colour of said orb but whatever I hit the orb with the spell, nothing occurs. Bug?

He only becomes damageable for a short period after you destroy any orbs you see in the air above-that's when to hit him.

ETA: In-between those, just dodge and avoid a direct hit. Best of luck!

I know. It's the orbs that are my problem. Red orbs I can destroy but Yellow & purple I can't destroy, I've tired with all spells and every distance from them. Yellow & purple can't be destroyed

Yes they can-I used Diffindo on purples and Levioso on yellows.

simple rock papper sciccor combat, you are using the wrong coloured spells, once you hit it ancient magic the dragon

I've used EVERY purple spell on the purple orbs. Nothing affects it
I've used EVERY yellow spell on the yellow orbs. Nothing affects it
Diffindo is the only spell that works on the red orbs.

FYI, switch your game to easy, Ranrok Dragon attacks don't hurt you

Correction: Depulso is the purple I used, forgetting my names. OP, they DO work, make sure you're getting direct hits. Maybe use Target Lock.

I understand Hogwarts Legacy is just the 2023 version of Cyberpunk but how can I defeat Rankrok dragon to further my story line without restarting?

It isn't, but nevertheless, as the other poster suggested, switch to Story or Easy mode. Don't know what else to tell you.

I have the same issue - I shoot the purple orb directly and nothing happens.

I also have bug on this boss, but a little bit different. When the boss' HP bar was reduced to zero, I couldn't win until I died. I understand it shouldn't be like that.

Try restarting the game or restarting from the last saved point. Autosave often works in plot points. It does not take a lot of time. At some points, I also had to restart missions when I encountered impassable moments. It's sad, but better than stopping playing.

One thing I always do is make a manual save before anything significant because manual doesn't get overwritten. Then, if I do run into a bug/get stuck/whatever I'm good.

Just to confirm use same colour of attack as the orb, nothing else works, red on red yellow on yellow purple on purple

Make sure you're actually hitting the orb? Auto-targeting in this game is a bit janky, I had manually aim the spells into some of the orbs. Use a talented Edurus potion if it's too frantic.

Also the window where he's damagable is only a couple of seconds so follow up quickly.
