There are a LOT of misses if you watch and listen carefully. For instance, during the MQ "Merlin Trial" you can learn that Merlin attended Hogwarts - which was many centuries ago, about 6th century. But back then there is absolutely no way they had an architecture like that of Hogwarts - and I'm not talking about their ability to build it (though with traditional techniques it'd be around 800 years at least till such castles were possible to build) - just that such style and architecture couldn't possibly be invented back then.

You don't want to really go deep into these rabbit holes because then you'll discover that the plot and lore are full of .. well, holes.

What they are using in the game would be more closely to the Apparition spell as they never fight while flying wich is what unsupported flying would allow them to do, apparation however is depicted the same as unsupported flying in effects

Except they use ancient magic to litterally build pillars in this game plua the game is said to not be canon but id say unless rowling states its not canon it is

Hogwarts Castle is a large, seven-story high building supported by magic, with many towers and turrets and very deep dungeons, built in the late Early Middle Ages (c. 993) by a wizard architect and the four most celebrated wizards of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. The Castle houses Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, regarded as the finest wizarding school in the world.

This individual (fl. circa 993) was the architect responsible for planning and designing Hogwarts Castle,[1] along with Founder Rowena Ravenclaw, who devised the ever-changing floorplan.

There is a golden statue of this individual at Hogwarts Entrance Hall, in which he is shown among the four house mascots holding a model of Hogwarts on one of his hands, and charts and a set square in the other.[2] The statue guards a hidden passageway to the Founders' Tower.

Apparition is a teleport that looks nothing like unsupported flying. They also use that a lot in combat to get into beter positions. Enemies with Incendio even use Apparition to dash on top of you and cast it insatnly.

"In the Harry Potter films, Apparition is often depicted as similar to flight, with those using it even able to cast spells, physically fight, and affect the stability of the Millennium Bridge while flying closely around its support cables, causing them to break off telekinetically. In this form, characters are shown to be able to impact and collide with things hard enough to launch other humans several yards away or even break through wooden or stone walls, causing them to catch fire, as seen in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, when three Death Eaters crashed through The Burrow, which, as a result, caught on fire and burned down. The characters that do so, namely the Death Eaters or Order of the Phoenix members, can turn into long pillars of black smoke or white steam that rush through the air. As it is portrayed in the books, however, this sort of application of Apparition would be impossible, and thus this cannot be considered canon. Also, in every film with the Dark Mark in the sky, Death Eaters are shown Apparating inside and outside of its mouth in smoke form. This allows them to fly out of it and appear wherever it is cast, allowing them to use it as a sort of portal."

Hogwarts is a magical castle. It changes its layout and architecture over time and at will.

It's not about the HOW to build it. It's about the knowledge about WHAT to build. They have magic, yes - but without having an architectural style to follow they couldn't do it. Simply put - if you have a magic that can build an object of any shape but you don't know, say - what a cube is - you can't build a cube because you have no knowledge of what it is.

How did this character use Ancient Magic?
It could have been something used back in this period but was forgotten almost 100 years later until Voldemort rediscovered it just like our character rediscovered this Ancient Magic.
