ACCIO not working in a spell combination- HELP

I am stuck and can't progress further!
Currently in a dummy duel training 1- I am doing a combination of spells: LEVIOSO- BASIC (4 times)- ACCIO- BASIC.
When I press ACCIO in this combo- it doesn't work and crosses it out with X. I can cast ACCIO in any other time but in this combo it's not working. I don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP!

I've experienced this a couple times in the dummy training and it's probably one of two things; your Accio cooldown isn't up in time, for which the solution is to take a little more time with your basic casts. You'd be surprised how long enemies stay in the air without intervention lol. Secondly, though I doubt this is your issue, I also experienced a time where the dummy was too close to the back wall so it was hitting the wall and falling to the ground prematurely which broke the combo. Backing up further in the room solved that for me.

In combat, your spells will have cooldowns. When you are not in combat, they do not have cooldowns and can be spammed multiple times. You essentially have to time each hit to juggle the dummy in the air long enough for the accio spell to finish the cooldown.

It isn't the cooldown. There is some kind of "glitch" where it casts the normal attack too many times, and so it misses the next spell which is supposed to be in place of the 4th normal attack. The way to finish is to go a little slower on the regular casts, and be sure not to do too many. It is likely supposed to be 3 casts, and not 4, and may be doing the 4th cast because you are tapping too fast. The 4th cast is normal for the basic attack combo, and so it may be "recording" the taps even though it isn't displaying it yet.

I had trouble with this on one of the advanced sequences. You just have to slow yourself down. There should be plenty of time to finish while it is in the air. I guarantee I was only tapping 3 times, and it was still doing 4 and missing. Slowing down the shots a little enabled me to get past it.

Also, if you aren't familiar with battles (and eventually you will easily solo against half a dozen or more) the trick is to dodge or protego as soon as you see that you are being targeted. Do not wait to finish your attack sequence. It is better to get 1-2 shots in and not get hit... play the attrition game, and use your big spells when they cool down, making sure that you are using the right one to break the opponent's shield. Have one spell of each type loaded into your panel, with your favorite, or maybe levitation, in the 4th slot (which can also be used to break the yellow shield).

Make and take lots of wiggenweld potions, along with a few endurus potions, and you will easily win every challenge. Time does not elapse when you are swapping potions, so you can do both. For that matter, a maxima potion will help to finish things quickly too. You do not have to finish the quest at low level... you can actually give yourself time to get better in real combat, level up, learn the muscle memory, and then the duel competition will seem like child's play.

If your playing with a controller, hold the button on the last basic cast. I had this problem where pressing and holding LT to cast Accio would fire an extra basic cast. I had to tap LT 3 times, press and hold LT for the 4th basic cast, then press my spell button straight away. It only seems to happen during this dummy trial, never saw it again.

Playing on PC, I press 2, click, click, click, 4, which should give levitation, 3 x basic, then attraction, but it doesn't, it gives levitation then 4 x basics. Once I left click three times it will not stop from doing a fourth basic attack with extra flourish. Bad port from console.

I am having the same problem - in fact I stopped playing because of it. I really think it shouldn't be such an important part of the questline as it prevents you from advancing.

Having the same issue! Playing on steam deck and I’ve restarted and updated the console and the game.

I was struggeling with this dummy training as well. Everytime the same issue, until I realiized I've always tried Lumus as 2nd spell (after Accio as 1st spell) instead of the base spell (R2 / left mouse click), everytime my wand was overheated and the dummy didn't stay in the air. The symbols for these two spells look quite similar, which is why I mixed them up. Stupid me - but maybe someone else is experiencing a similar mental glitch and finds my comment helpfull ;-)
