Now I am doing my second game playthrough with gear upgrades at Normal difficutly with auror berserker build.
Let's just say gear upgrades with offense stats will massively increase your damage output.
Still I think gear upgrade will only become actually important if you play on Hard difficulty.
The stats calculation in this game is unusual for me, a few points of offense stats increasing seems like 50% damage increase for me in Normal diifculty. Also level penalty on damage output is massive in this game, seems like the developer is trying to force people to upgrade gears.
Yet, nothing in the game is explaining how the damage calculation is working in this game. We only know upgrading gears will give you a massive visible effectiveness bump in combat.
Anyway, the beast ranch has built so easy that you can gather enough materials to fully upgrade any legendary gears in a half hour, so... well... at least gear upgrade would not slow down your gameplay.
Yeah that's what I thought. I hate that it's pretty much pointless filler for the game.
there are mods in nexus mod that you can install to make the game harder if you want.
You could just stick to a few level 1 traits and the first "upgrade" for a little more killing speed but not so one-shot uber. Game is relatively easy enough as it is tho, even on Hard, at least if you pay attention to the colored head halos and block/dodge effectively etc.
The gear caps out at 114, sooo ye.
Offensive = More dmg
Defensive = More resistance (you can take more jabs)
While the traits that you apply on your gear is depending on your playstyle tbh.
You probably wont use any plant increasing traits when you dont use em.
In my opinion the most useful traits are
Ambush III Significantly increased spell damage while concealed by Disillusionment
Ancient Magic III Significantly increased damage from Ancient Magics
Binding III Significantly increased damage with Petrificus Totalus
