level 27 but need level 34 to finish the game lol 1/10 instantly
"I've been playing for 40 hours so far and I'm barely level 31. I've been grinding for hours and I've barely come up half a level. I just want to watch my character graduate but I'll never have the time for this. The game went from a 9/10 to a 3/10 with this."
absolute silly requirement to finish the game. Finished all relevant quests without a level requirement & no issues and now suddenly I need to grind for hours to finish the last mission? What a joke.
Honestly I don’t care enough about the game to grind. I’ll come back if they ever patch it but otherwise I’m out"

very true

All these types of games expect you to do a bunch of busywork. It's how they were designed.

i havent even gotten to the third trial and i am over level 31? just been doing side content.

Git good, dude. I was level 21 when I did my first Trial and got my skill points; if you're ignoring side content and not exploring, then you will be under-leveled in any open world game. Don't blame the game because you're a bad player.

There's your problem. You can't grind XP. You have to do the stuff in the field guide to earn XP (nothing else gives XP in this game). Once you realize that, it's very easy to level up.

I find it easy to get lost quickly. I don't mean lost in the map, I mean like a "I don't know what to do next" lost. As Aris said, doing things in the field guide give more XP, but so does finishing side-quests and, I believe, finishing ancient magic hotspots or Merlin trials.

Did you not explore the Castle? I got above the level requirements for the first half of the game by a ridiculous amount. You really only need to do a few side activities to keep above.

I'm not sure if you are just rushing the story or not. But I would recommend not rushing the main story, it isn't as long as you think. If you get to Spring Time and you aren't level 30 then I'd say discover the secrets of Hogwarts and do Side Quests.

This game is nowhere near as grindy as Ubisoft games.

Those give XP because they're part of the guide. With Merlin trials it's very obvious: once you do ~50 of them (can't remember the exact number) you finish the associated field guide requirements and you no longer get XP for doing more Merlin trials.

It's the same about killing enemies: once you kill all required spiders, killing more spiders stops giving XP.

The only way to get to lv 40 is to 100% complete the field guide.

Maybe, but I'm lever 34, now, with several hours left in the game, and I've mostly ignored the guide. I completed it by exploring, solving things that intrigued me, and otherwise engaging with the game in the way I naturally do. It is very easy to reach a level high enough to finish the game and only if you feel compelled to, do you need to actually pull out the guide and earn those last few levels to feed your ego.

I see you're one of those people who only focus on the main story of the game. That is kinda a problem because that pretty much kills the enjoyment of open world games if you're only focusing on the main story. Sure grinding is a pain sometimes but, it's part of the fun because it allows you to get good glimpse of the scenery, things that are never seen before in the harry potter franchise, and secrets by exploring.

Just so you know, your level should already be in the 30s by the time you've reached the 3rd trial of the game but since you ignored your challenges and side quests of course you're going to be like "seriously i need to be at a certain level to complete the game?" I'm pretty sure you've also notice that when you look at your equips there is a certain level to use better equips in the game. This is an open world game so that means that you lack patience, you just rush to the end

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
