I tried both, I think if playing with keyboard I would learn and play if needed but prefer controller.
The keyboard has a good function, you scroll mouse button and change spell presets, or you can press 5-8 to go to the 4 presets. I am just not used to use without gamepad
No, which one he enjoys more depends on his preference. As to which one is better, mouse/keyboard of course. Like its the case since forever in 99% of all games
dual sense makes for a better immersion
It feels like that's what it was designed for, and i don't think using the numerical keys for casting (something you'll be doing all the time in this game) works very well. You'll want to move and dodge attacks in this game, and switching between WASD and 1234 in combat feels clunky to me.
In general, a joystick is easier for me to handle fine movement control but that doesn't seem to matter in this game outside of the time trials. For combat, the very restrictive limit of 4 spells per set also seems tailored more for a controller. Though I imagine having to constantly shuffle spells on and off of bars due to the other very restrictive limit of only 4 sets (at the cost of wasting 3 talent points) makes developing muscle memory a complete pain in the ass even with a controller.
(Might need to turn on DS support in Steam, though. Not sure. I just know that it uses the correct prompts for the correct controller only if you don't use an Xbox emulator for the DS. Otherwise, HL will think you have an Xbox controller.)
My hands hurt after using mouse/keyboard too long. (Yes. After work, my hands are in a lot of pain.) Controllers don't cause the same problem.
That's my preference, but it seems more people mention mouse/keyboard controls in this particular community.
