Both seem to work fine with this game. Which one's "better" depends on your personal preference.

i prefer this game from the couch. if it was more of an MMO i would probably be on keyboard.

the only pain in this game when playing with keypad is the default key binding: attack with 1, 2, 3, 4 and switch between spell-sets with F1, F2, F3, F4. So when fighting and switching between sets you easily mistype...

I tried both, I think if playing with keyboard I would learn and play if needed but prefer controller.

The keyboard has a good function, you scroll mouse button and change spell presets, or you can press 5-8 to go to the 4 presets. I am just not used to use without gamepad

No, which one he enjoys more depends on his preference. As to which one is better, mouse/keyboard of course. Like its the case since forever in 99% of all games

I'll try with controller, thanks everybody

Whatever you are used to. I have always used mouse and keyboard for games like this being an old PC gamer I struggle to use a controller. Whereas my son uses a controller for everything.

I prefer to use mnk for just about any game, and especially for HWL due to how I have my spells set up. It's super easy to combo as long as you can coordinate your inputs. Mouse wheels make it even better, but it's ultimately a matter of preference. I know my friend calls me insane for playing through Dark Souls 3 with mouse and keyboard, but I enjoy it.

You can scroll wheel through the spell sets. And should. Your last two sets are probably all utility anyway.

for me i see this as a controller game. coming from someone who mainly uses key n mouse
dual sense makes for a better immersion

I've tried multiple times to use a controller with this game and it just feels so off and awkward. Not for me, but to each their own. The keyboard and mouse on the other hand feels fantastic. I kind of wish you could bind more keys to different spells, but for what it is, it's pretty nice, al la, Star Wars Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast.

I prefer gamepad with this one.

It feels like that's what it was designed for, and i don't think using the numerical keys for casting (something you'll be doing all the time in this game) works very well. You'll want to move and dodge attacks in this game, and switching between WASD and 1234 in combat feels clunky to me.

Overall, I prefer keyboard and mouse but could be tempted to pick up a controller for combat and flying.
In general, a joystick is easier for me to handle fine movement control but that doesn't seem to matter in this game outside of the time trials. For combat, the very restrictive limit of 4 spells per set also seems tailored more for a controller. Though I imagine having to constantly shuffle spells on and off of bars due to the other very restrictive limit of only 4 sets (at the cost of wasting 3 talent points) makes developing muscle memory a complete pain in the ass even with a controller.

Eh? In my game I cast spells using the mouse button and dive using the other mouse button. Thats how it's been set up by default. Makes combat very smooth.

Natively supports Xbox/Elite and DualSense/DualShock/DualSense Edge. (Though, it's unable to remap the Edge-still requires a PS to remap the Edge controls that will carry profiles over into PC and, thereby, HL. To be fair, Xbox Elite requires the Xbox app in Windows to create remapped profiles, too-just not an Xbox itself.) No extra software needed.

(Might need to turn on DS support in Steam, though. Not sure. I just know that it uses the correct prompts for the correct controller only if you don't use an Xbox emulator for the DS. Otherwise, HL will think you have an Xbox controller.)

My hands hurt after using mouse/keyboard too long. (Yes. After work, my hands are in a lot of pain.) Controllers don't cause the same problem.

That's my preference, but it seems more people mention mouse/keyboard controls in this particular community.
