As you can see in the image above ray tracing reflections are broken. Wasn't like this before the patch of 03/08

Glad I did not use ray tracing lol. It has been the biggest video tech boondoggle I can remember, so much money and so much power needed for so little visual advantage. They should sell cards without it! I bet it will be replaced in the near future.

It does this in treasure vaults also.

First vault I went into was painfully bright. After 10 or 15 seconds or so once all the way into the vault, the lighting in the vault actually normalized. I had this happen in another vault as well. However, a couple of vaults I went into did not do this. This was all noticed on the same gaming session.

I have Ray Tracing set to Low.

Setting Raytrace to Ultra seems to fix some of the issues. I don't see any difference in performance. Overall though the game looks worse after the patch. The lighting quality seems lower, and there are definitely issues with color grading and auto-exposure in certain areas.

I'm no graphics engineer, but it APPEARS to me that in their effort to optimize the RT performance, they screwed up the BVH. Now, reflective surfaces are catching rays from all sorts of places that they shouldn't be. For instance, it appears that surfaces indoors are seeing and reflecting areas beyond the castle walls. As a result, there are overly bright exterior reflections all over the place. Even green reflections as if foliage is present when it isn't. And there are a number of good spots where if you angle the camera correctly you can clearly see floors not reflecting the wall that's right next to it, but I presume whatever is on the OTHER SIDE of that wall. So yeah they need to issue another fix for that problem. It sucks because the RT reflections add a lot but in their currently broken state they look awful

RT used to be bad and now it´s trash. Everything looks wet and like AMDman said, it´s reflecting light that´s shouldn´t be there. What a mess.

This last patch that went out for the game seems to have really impacted gameplay and graphics performance for people in a lot of different ways. Personally I only tested the ray tracing before the patch, and I got fairly unplayable FPS, post 3/08 patch I'm able to comfortably play with the medium quality ray tracing I tested on. To be fair I've only been running the settings for acouple hours gameplay but so far i'm holding strong, sorry you're running into issues with the new build D:

Are you trolling? Replaced? It is the future of lighting in gaming. It isn't some gimmick. It is literally the only way to get realistic light sources. Cards are only now reaching the point of having power output caoable of handling it. It is still new and there are issues but this isn't a passing feature. There is no going back

Agreed it is far far from a gimmick. When a game properly uses RT the difference is amazing. It will and for the most part already has become the new standard for gaming. Unfortunately this game has never properly implemented RT, still that does not make the tech gimmicky in any way what so ever.

Just wanted to chime in after I stopped playing the game since last patch because of broken raytracing. I went back to previous patch using the steam console + download depot command. I copy/pasted the downloaded game into my Hogwarts Legacy Steam folder, overwriting whatever it needed to. Disabled automatic updates for the game, instead it is supposed to ask me if I want to update when I launch the game. It does not do that in my case.

Also I disabled VBS (Virtualization Based Security) on my Windows 11. (This because MS Flight Simulator 2020 was extremely slow with SU12 compared to SU11 and I was trying to get some performance back) and somehow I'm experiencing very little stutter. There is of course still some when going through big doors dividing big areas or going from indoors to outdoors but compared to the updated version of the game this is sooo much better. I was instantly hooked and played 5 hours today.

No idea if VBS had something to do with the reduced stutter. As far as I know some people might already have it disabled. All I know it is performing so much better.

New standard maybe, but is it really worth spending thousands of euros just to use one feature? Games does look's good without it too.

It was really bad for about two days after the update/patch, but in my game it's back to normal now....or almost back to normal - enough so for me to no longer feel annoyed by having my attention constantly diverted by the flicker and the texture flipping in and out all the time.

Hope the game will be great for everybody ASAP!...
