Max out my CPU on startup.. yay crash

i REALLY enjoyed this game, i played it starting when game came out, devs patch release a week and a half or so and since then i click "Play" in steam and it maxes out my CPU then gives me a error message saying i dont have enough suddenly.. Ill work on getting a new graphics card or something but this is more likely the devs screw up since it worked BEFORE that damn patch and it worked very smoothly, i rarely had a hickup and saw no graphical issues so please, please, PLEASE DEVS!! patch this issue your previous patch slotted in or someone at least tell me the devs are currently working on it

I had a similar problem after the patch. Have you tried verifying the game files? That fixed it for me... sort of... I can play, but performance is still wonky.

i verify and i get no change, i reinstalled it, took 4 hours since net isnt best and still nothing.. i gotta wait for them to fix their hickup or get a new graphics card that handles every other game with no issue and hope that fixes it

When you start up the game, it will compile shaders, well it will at least try. Lower your settings via something, like geforce experience, or manually edit the config file.

Enable viewing hidden files and folders then navigate to your windows folder and open program data, find Hogwarts Legacy folder and delete it then try launching the game again.

The new update doesn't fix the stutter. How come PS5 can go around Hogwarts with zero stutter with excellent 60fps? Meanwhile, high end PC can't?

What I found that worked for me is change your power option to power saver then change it back once the game is in the menu.

did you ever find a fix for this? i dropped this game because i could never find a fix

Yea i eventually found that the patch that started it all pushed the game too far and my drivers couldnt help it, i update drivers and game works again.. no idea when i last updated those so im surprised that a single patch is what pushed the game outside usage, oh well
