Broom races and pen limit?
Imalda is no longer showing up, yet I still have the quest. 1) Was there a "time stamp" on this event? 2) how many animals can I capture? I have 3 pens. Thnx

If a quest icon is solid white, it will be available until you finish THAT chapter! so if you don't complete before then, it is lost! If it is a "greyed out" icon, it will be available for duation of the game! You say you have 3 pens so I assume you mean vivariums. You get a total of 4 vivariums. the first vivarium yiou get is the forest vivarium, 2nd is the seashore vivarium, Then you get the swamp vivarium with a quest to rescue a Thestral, Finally you get a Grasslands Vivarium with a mission to rescue a Phoenix. And each vivarium is alloted 12 slots for beasts (total now 48.) Breeding is another mission by itself,

You can capture as many as your bag holds - and I forgot the specific number, but its more than enough.

Vivariums can only holds 12 animals maximum, and a variety of 4. Meaning you can have like 9 Hippogriffs, and 1 niffler, 1 mooncalf, and 1 phoenix or something. 4 different creatures, 12 total. You have 4 vivariums, so that's a total of 48, far as my math goes.

Honestly I've never needed to fill my entire bag up unless I want to sell creatures I capture. Which is fine (I believe the game says they're vulnerable to poachers right now, so rather you get them "to safety" than letting poachers abuse them).

There are more time efficient ways to make money though if that's what you're after.

You can increase that number by breeding them. I think (but I could be wrong) the final cap to the number of beasts you can keep is 42 or 48...something like that.
Something is off, about what you said.
There are 4 vivariums. Each one has 12 slots, which cannot be increased.
Breeding will just fill up your cap, it doesn't increase the cap.
By default you will have 48 slots to see them, and the inventory.
That's it, breeding has nothing to do with that.

Well now... the info I'm getting displayed has 1 Vivarium showing beasts that r in another Vivarium. It also displayed the message...ur inven is full, go sell when I had only 1 Phoenix in the coastal Vivarium and 4 in the Breeding. There were 12 in the ground level one. So, I just "return to inven" and carried over some to the Coastal...but it wasstill saying ur inven is full.

You cannot increase your Vivarium capacity past 12 per Vivarium.

It turns out you are correct and I was mistaken! my solution is to keep one male and one female of 4 different species in each vivarium, then sell the offspring and breed again. I apologize for my misinformation.

4 Virvariums, from what I remember.

At first, it was 4 creatures per, which would mean 16 creatures.

Until I built the breeding pen in each one, then it expanded.

I have no idea what the true number was, because at that point in the game, I no longer cared.

It's not like Fallout 4, where you suddenly start caring about infrastructure more than killing enemies.

You need only to breed if you want an offspring variety of beast in your Vivarium. It’s quicker and easier to find beasts in the wild to sell, if you’re trying at all for Galleons.

Wrong. You’re limited to four species per Vivarium. Only 12 beasts can be housed in a Vivarium at one time.

Breeding never opened the ability to house more beasts.

EDIT: The more I read your post, the more bollocks it sounds. You don’t have access to all four Vivariums at once, so your 4x4=16 calculation is utter tosh.

Right.

So 4 vivariums. 4 creatures in each. Equals 16 creatures.

That's what I had.

There are only 13 different magical beasts in the game.

I believe that's correct. I had one too many Thestrals.

Are you factoring in the Phoenix?

I'm sure you are. You sound sharp.
Supgad Feb 21, 2023 @ 8:21pm
With the singular Phoenix, there are 13 magical beasts.

I don’t recommend anyone keep an equal number of the other 12 beasts, as some magical reagents are needed in great number per gear upgrade (e.g. Jobberknoll feathers are often required at a 3:1 rate over other, rarer beast reagents).

Got it.

Nice work.
