Vivariums can only holds 12 animals maximum, and a variety of 4. Meaning you can have like 9 Hippogriffs, and 1 niffler, 1 mooncalf, and 1 phoenix or something. 4 different creatures, 12 total. You have 4 vivariums, so that's a total of 48, far as my math goes.
Honestly I've never needed to fill my entire bag up unless I want to sell creatures I capture. Which is fine (I believe the game says they're vulnerable to poachers right now, so rather you get them "to safety" than letting poachers abuse them).
There are more time efficient ways to make money though if that's what you're after.
There are 4 vivariums. Each one has 12 slots, which cannot be increased.
Breeding will just fill up your cap, it doesn't increase the cap.
By default you will have 48 slots to see them, and the inventory.
That's it, breeding has nothing to do with that.
At first, it was 4 creatures per, which would mean 16 creatures.
Until I built the breeding pen in each one, then it expanded.
I have no idea what the true number was, because at that point in the game, I no longer cared.
It's not like Fallout 4, where you suddenly start caring about infrastructure more than killing enemies.
Wrong. You’re limited to four species per Vivarium. Only 12 beasts can be housed in a Vivarium at one time.
Breeding never opened the ability to house more beasts.
EDIT: The more I read your post, the more bollocks it sounds. You don’t have access to all four Vivariums at once, so your 4x4=16 calculation is utter tosh.
Right.
So 4 vivariums. 4 creatures in each. Equals 16 creatures.
That's what I had.
There are only 13 different magical beasts in the game.
I believe that's correct. I had one too many Thestrals.
Are you factoring in the Phoenix?
I'm sure you are. You sound sharp.
I don’t recommend anyone keep an equal number of the other 12 beasts, as some magical reagents are needed in great number per gear upgrade (e.g. Jobberknoll feathers are often required at a 3:1 rate over other, rarer beast reagents).
Nice work.
