Any way to fix broken quest? (Quest: In the Shadow of the Study)

I somehow broke this quest by repairing the broken art work through a wall while I was running around very early in the game. I can clearly remember revealing it and using Reparo on it through the walls last week - long before I got any Sebastian quests done. At the time, I was simply running around Hogwarts looking for random stuff to do and figured I'd eventually find a way to get to the location where I did the repair.

Well, sure enough, it's now a required step to open the first door downstairs after starting the "In the Shadow of the Study" quest. Unfortunately, there's no longer a pile of rubble, the art work no longer needs repairs, and I'm completely unable to open the first door. Needless to say, this is very game-breaking for me due to the importance of these particular quests With Sebastian and Ominis, so I have no idea what to do now.

Anyone have any ideas? How can I clear the progress of this quest and start over with the wall NOT repaired? is it even possible, or am I completely screwed?

I just had this same issue that took me forever to figure out. It’s as simple as using a damage spell (think I used Confringo) on the art piece. Then you can repair it. Hope that helps!! 😊
