Sirona's voice acting reminded me of the Theranos woman.
I ended up really liking Sebastian, Poppy, and Natty. They had great voice actors, some fun lines, and nice quest chains. It's a shame that there isn't a Ravenclaw equivalent character, but oh well. Still fun.
I'll be real: my least favorite was probably Sirona. I've known trans people. Up until recently, passing was pretty important and the ones who couldn't pass were not always very happy campers. Trying to present as something sucks when you can't convincingly do so. In your heart, you know no one is buying it and that weighs on you.
Sirona doesn't even try to pass. Won't throw her voice, doesn't wear makeup, and so on. It rang so... untrue to me. I'm in the same camp as Jack_of_Tears on this.
I didn't mind Sirona's dialogue or writing. She's well-written, has some fun side quests tied to her, and has a nice sense of humor. Not a bad character, but yeah... that voice. Not a fan of the creative choices here. I throw my voice more when reading stories aloud for fun than Sirona does tending bar.
Edit addition: also, I really didn't like Sebastian's uncle. That character, man. A thousand possible ways to reach Sebastian and the uncle chose: insulting Sebastian's father while constantly scolding him and telling him to give up all hope. I've met people like the uncle. The writing is on point as to how they behave, and yeah... they usually just mess kids up. I've never seen that style of parenting bring anything other than grief, and I was not at all sad to see him go. An absolute cretin.
I really liked the writing in this storyline because you can see how his uncle ended up the way he did. He lost so much in his life that he was left a miserable and broken man who felt like there was no point left in punching back at life; someone for whom all hope died a long time ago.
Those people often tell themselves that if they'd been stronger, if they'd been wiser to the ways of life, then they would not have been hurt so bad by what happened. So they try to toughen up the people around them, teach them that life is harsh and unfair early on so they never have to go through that suffering. What they fail to remember is that, prior to that loss, their lives had been worth getting up for every day and their behavior is stealing that from their loved ones - making it so they never get to enjoy life, but live bitter and downtrodden. Then those people pass the message on because that's how the circle of pain works.
Not a likable person, but one I can understand.
I've had a great time with Scrope's lines too, laughedMFAO with Scrope.
