It's decent for open world if you like BOTW it got some puzzles but too easy and copy paste. The is like theme park Open World design with Harry Potter world.
Combat is decent but not challenging. It suffers Terrible Open World AI design where AI have pathfinding issues like getting stuck on terrain.
Main Story is generic RPG story.
Few Side quest and some main quest are decent the rest are too generic.
It has some generic barebones RPG mechanics.
Choosing House doesn't matter in the game it's like Cyberpunk choosing your prologue but generic. Also your Character doesn't have any background it's personality affect what House you choose like Cyberpunk.
There are some things the game does very poorly however. The RPG elements are non-existent, at most causing some branching results in very specific quests. Most dialogue options are an illusion. The game is also very easy without self imposed rules and the puzzles are kindergarten tier difficulty. Some of the filler content you can find across the overworld are extremely bland, especially the dungeons.
Aside from Hogwarts castle, and a bunch of kids flying around on brooms, it's not like the films. It's more like a video game.
They have poachers running around that you have to kill. And goblin miners. And a source of magic that needs to be stopped.
The game is very well done, aside from the writing.
You'd have fun playing it. I had fun with it, and I can't stand the Harry Potter books and films.
Just make sure that you have a powerful computer. Otherwise, you'll be in the complaint department with the rest of the lot.
Definitively lot more enjoyable if you like the HP universe (which is a cool one, even if you didn't read/watch HP that much, if you feel drawn by the universe, it's worth buying it, else wait for sale, it still a good game).
