Long dash is not that great in a fight. (Very useful for skipping crawls though)
Just calmly tap the dodge button for all of the attacks then flipendo after he swings it down.
Tap dodge for each of the troll attacks and you'll be fine.

The timing is permissive but If you have trouble, the Zelda/Dark Soul roll strategy can be used here.
unless you can break line of sight on the attacker.. like behind large rock or corner.
I've seen it at its most extreme at the first actual boss where he summons the big magic sphere... my spells were on CD so I teleport dodged behind the guy when he launched the sphere and due to my lockon I saw how the sphere did a perfect 180 in midflight to blast me right in the face, flinching me only for an arching bolt to finish me off... that's some BS right there even DS doesn't do and it makes the teleport dodge feel utterly useless in comparison to the normal dodge
