Disk usage 100%
When i lplay hogwarts legacy my disk usage is always at 100% but it drops for a few seconds (i have a hdd) and i got massive drops which makes the game unplayable
I guess it s time for a ssd upgrade
Any thoughts?

Sounds like you've got it.

Nowadays ssd is practically the standard for gaming.

Everyone is moving to streaming from disk to cut down, or eliminate, loading.

And if the game can't load fast enough wonky things can happen.
I recall reports from other games where the pc can't load the collision data fast enough and players fall through floors.

There is also the possibility of other system bottlenecks causing performance degredation apart from the slow hdd speed.

shame we had to wait for the console systems to make use of ssds before we could start having games take advantage of them on pc..

They always took advantage of them, I mean cutting 30s+ load times down to 5-10 seconds was great even back in 2016 when I bought my first NVME drive. Until this gen though, developers were forced to still build games around having low RAM and HDD loading, and slow HDD loading at that since the consoles used slow af 5200 RPM drives.

Hell, the entire PS3/XB1 era of games was sandbagged by the fact that the PS3 shipped with only 256MB of RAM and all the games had to be designed fundamentally different to do a lot more loading from disc/hard disk.

Sounds like you already know you need an SSD.

ok scrap that its a hybrid sorry i thought it was a normal hdd
Meh, I run the game on a standard 1tb HDD by barracuda I think. Outside of some delayed textures loading, I've had no major performance issues or breaking in my games. Well outside of performance issues everyone else has been having, but editing my engine.ini file fixed that right up.
I have my game loaded to a 2TB HDD and works fine. It sounds like it could be a combo between not having enough RAM (forcing it to load through the slower HDD) + old HDD

A newer 7200rpm HHD ~might run stuff just fine. But in all honesty you should get a 6/gbs SSD. I'm going to assume you are running with SATA cables. So be sure to get the correct cable as well. (some people will buy a 3/gbs cable for a 6gb/s drive)
Also keep in mine that running your operating system or other things on off of the same drive can effect its performance.
Extra tip, I can personally suggest Samsung EVO line for SSD's. You can find them on sale now and again via Amazon.

No, I see that disk usage is active only during loading screens or while flying
