Can't Access Gear, Quests, or Map (GAME BREAKING BUG)

I can't access any menu other than the Save/Load menu as of yesterday. It's completely broken as I can no longer change gear open my map, fast travel, check challenges, or follow quests. I've tried KBM and controller, changing key binds, loading in to new areas, verifying files, but no matter what I do it will only open the save/load menu.

I've searched for hours for a solution or even someone with the same issue because surely I can't be the only one. I tried reloading an earlier save but the problem still persists. Any help would be appreciated because there's no way I'm playing 30+ hours again.

Try hitting Q on that screen and see what happens.

and verify your game. Right click your game in the Steam Library and select Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Files. Let that do it's job.

Tried switching tabs in the menu even though they don't show up and it still didn't work. Verified files right after it stopped working but that didn't work either.

Since verifying files did not work then the last thing you can do its to uninstall the game -> delete the folder -> reinstall the game.

Not sure if this is related, but I couldn't open my gear by tapping Tab (I rebound gear to Tab key). I quickly realized it may be related to my recently opening Spells (which I rebound to Lctrl), and I was right. Turns out if I open spells, and then close it with Esc (and not the button I used to open it in the first place) I could no longer open Gear with tab.

Strange behavior, to say the least. But perhaps if you rebound multiple keys you may be experiencing a similar issue? Opening Spells again (Lctrl for me), and closing it with the same key (Lctrl) fixed the issue for me....that is until the next time I forget, and close it with Esc.

But I think your issue is far worst...There's that point in the game where esc goes from settings, to the field guide but something bugged for you.

delete hogwarts folder in appdata/local and delete hogwarts folder in programdata.

Then delete hogwarts folder in steam. Redownload the game and let it reinstall everything.

Your saves are in appdata/local hogwarts so make a backup before deleting.

Thanks guys, I never rebound any controls and I did a full reinstall and the issue still persists unfortunately.

I just came across the same issue today. I'm only in the common room, so not far in the game, but I was only able to have the gear options show once... I tried verifying the files but it didn't help.

I still have the issue. Basically killed any motivation to play the game ever again. If my partner didn't play it I would have gotten a refund.

Try talking to a vendor and quit back out. That should fix it.

That was one of the first things I tried. I've tried zoning into my room, I've downloaded the save editor and opened my save and made one small change to see if that would fix it. No luck.

Had this happen to me on PS5 too. Rebooting my game fixed mine, but obviously you already tried that. Sorry, can't help ya more than that. I waited for a quick save then shut the game down.
