Secret of the Antechamber bug

So the very first room across the first bridge, there's supposed to be these four pensieve guardians. Well I got to the room, my character said the voice line "guards at the ready" but nothing happened. I reloaded to an earlier save and ran back up to that point, same thing. Abandoned the quest and started over. Same thing. Finally just manually aimed and fired at the spots where they were supposed to be, and a health bar popped up. I hit them, their health went down, they dropped the li'l ancient magic powerups. But they were still invisible and immobile. Door opened so I guess I can progress now, but...I would have rather enjoyed the battle the way it's supposed to play out. Was rather disappointed.

And now the third set of guardians is bugged. Two invisible ones on either side of the door that I killed while they were invisible and immobile. Four invisible ones one either side of the bridge that I can't hit. Two visible ones that I can't hit. So I guess my whole save is corrupted, even if I reload to an earlier manual save? I've never even heard of something like that. :( Do I just have to start a new save, almost 20 hours in? Because that would really, really suck.

Never seen that happen in all my years of gaming.

You can try the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files' trick on Steam.

Not sure if that will work, though.

Sounds bad.

Mods can screw up games, too. Don't use them.

Good news is, you're only 20 hours in.

My wife had the same problem.

3rd room, do the following;
2 (unseen) guards, next to the door.
2 middle (unseen) guards, on pedestals.
2 guards closes to the door (visible), on pedestals.
2 guards (unseen) closest to where you enter, on pedestals.

WOW... They REALLY screwed this game up with the last patch.
