its a good card but the game needs a lot more optimization for RT to work correctly without killing your fps. If your buying a new card you would be better off with a 4070ti or something and that way you get the newest DLSS and Frame generation. With a 3080 and 4k and RT on your not going to like the frame rate.

I personally wouldn't buy anything with under 16GB vram for 4k if you intend to keep it for a while.

I had a 3080 10GB then a 3080ti 12GB, both of these cards whilst very capable had issues in certain games where I ran out of vram.

I'd look at a 4070ti or used 3090

4K Ultra / wO RT @ DLSS Quality 60fps is possibile

sadly thats not going to cut it for 4k, 16 GB of ram isnt enough and the 10GB of Vram on the 3080 isnt enough either.

get a 4070ti and 16 more GB of ram and you should be fine.

3000 series cards have a real struggle with this game, I would not buy it for this.

I got a 3080 because I wanted a card that would last at 1080p. 4k capable GPUs with wiggle room are bleeding edge cards- you added next gen as well so you'd be fairly limited to:

RTX 4090/4080, RX 7900 XTX/XT. The 4070ti is too bandwidth/VRAM constrainted now for 4k before more next gen games release.

It's crazy how game devs seem like they are pretending 30 series didn't happen. Consoles are 1/2 a 3080. When things FINALLY get optimized, we should see that most of these games are as unoptimized as it gets.

Game official requirement for 4K Ultra is 3090Ti/4080 and as i understand you want to enable also RT. I can tell from my experience with 4090, that i think 4080 is absolute minimum to play it at 4K everthing maxed. Talking about vram usage, it had gone up to 19gb of vram usage, usally sits around 16gb. So i am certain that 3080 is not powerful enough to meet your expectations.

Well I get about 40-60 at 4k Ultra\Ultra RTX DLSSup running around hogwarts and outdoor courtyards. No hard drops.

3070
5800x3d
32gb

Thing is its hit or miss on every system. Without 2 lines added to engine.ini, my regular 1440p is a powerpoint presentation. Hard drops 5 seconds in.

The line edits seem to only work on some systems unfortunately, but your system is definitely capable.

I also suggest choosing who you listen to here, because not even the devs know their own game.

This is why PC gaming is dying. You have been fooled, and now are spreading incorrect information.

Even if it was properly optimized... people need to learn to curb your expectations. You want everything, but don't even have the best card available. You can't run 4k, and ray tracing, and ultra, and 60+ fps on any new games... learn to optimize your own system. 4k is a ridiculous option when 1440p results in nearly 2x as many fps, higher refresh rates, and looks nearly as good. 4k for gaming is a pointless bottleneck.

The problem is that a 3080 Ti should be more than capable of doing 2k with DLSS yet this game has so many memory leaks and so unoptimized it can’t even do that as a stable 60 fps. It’s just shameful imo.

You need to stop talking.

A ps5 has a performant equivalent GPU to a 2070s. It has 16gb of total ram, shared between gpu and system. Usually about a 10gb\6gb sys split.

If you truly believe a modern 8gb vram system cannot handle this game, because of 2gb less in the vram buffer, then I implore you to take some basic introductory computer courses. If what you said was actually true, then pc architecture would not be around anymore!

Why not a cheaper RX 7900 XT that has 20gb vram?
Its way better

You need to stop talking. Or take english classes.

Consoles run at garbage 30 fps, which is one of those factors I was talking about. If you're happy with 30 fps at 4k, be my guest. What I said is if you expect to run everything without sacrificing something, you're ♥♥♥♥ out of luck. And you are.
