Game Ending is pretty underwhelming (spoilers)
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the game. I had a lot of fun and will definitely replay it again few more times, but game ending left me a bit dissapointed. It really doesn't matter if you choose to side with Keepers or embrace dark magic. I was hopping that I will get to tell Sebastian that I might finally cure his sister especially considering that mc agreed that she will ask Keepers more about how to use this power for Sebastian's sister sake. But sudenly Sebastian completely forgets about this after the main quest. You don't get any special spells or upgrades for your ancient magic either. I really hope we'll get either a big DLC or a sequel because now it feels like the main quest could've have so much more to offer. Nonetheless really great game. I'm looking forward to see if this game will have it last chapter that will answer all the questions and I will forever stay bitter if it won't.

UPDATE
It seems devs are not, in fact, planning a DLC anytime soon. Looks like they think "leave you hanging" ending is fine.

I agree and it's a 7/10 for me. It has the same problem as Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. They pull you in with your love for the franchise and only put in just enough content filled with nostalgia berries, but they never go all the way with it. That's why we don't have playable Quidditch and they came up with some BS excuse for it in the plot.

I find it funny how on the Deluxe Edition Artwork you can clearly see Dementors, but they are nowhere to be found in the game at all and that's why we don't have the Patronus spell in the game. They vaguely mentioned the Patronus too if you listen to some of the students in the castle.

I can't in good faith put this game as my game of the year anymore and it shouldn't be nominated, but it will be.

Forgot to mention how underwhelming the beasts were too. You don't even get to play with them or pet them. That toybox conjuration is the most laziest thing ever. All they do is run into whatever you put out in the vivarium, they don't actually play with the toy. It just screamed afterthought to me.

Agree. But I'm mostly dissapoint about the game story. Something that should have the strongest impact on your gameplay. It is a pity that we didn't recieve one of the most unique spells in all HP franchise, patronus, but I can forgive that if we recieved a decent ending that would put an end to our character's story. I'm a lore player and I hate games that leave you hanging and you sit there waiting like some dumdum till new content rolls. Considering how Sebastian was involved the most in the main story, I know they were planning a lot more than we recieved. Truly pitiful

Agreeeed, I need my Sebastian closure, he was honestly my favourite character. Everywhere i look everyone is complimenting the game unendingly and it is amazing as an open world game don't get me wrong but the story falls so short and for an RPG i truly hate that our choices have next to no impact on how things pan out

the hook brought lots of people in. I love the Harry Potter Universe and RPGs. It feels like they put a lot of surface content without a lot of depth and half-a$$ed the story with no real decision making bonus or negative.
I am proud it is out. I am proud it is getting attention. I am super hopeful this launches into a much deeper more immersive game and/or an MMO.

Agree. I really enjoyed the game and will probably also play through it again another time or two, But I would love to see them expand upon the ending and what comes after with DLC or another game or two.

My other main gripe was them killing off Fig. :steamsad: I knew it was coming as soon as he starts accompanying you to the final repository, but I'm so tired of game devs using "death of a mentor" as their go-to for emotional impact and signifier that the MC has grown into their own. Just feels lazy and so predictable anymore.

Personally would not want to see this turn into an MMO, but I would absolutely love to see a Hogwarts Legacy trilogy a la the original Mass Effect trilogy where they expand upon the characters and world they've already created in the MC's final two years of school. That would be amazing!

It honestly feels that they spent literal years building the castle and the world, and then a couple of months on the characters and the story. The game world is top tier. This game as an RPG is thin.

Dementors are in game, patronus charm also in fact shown. Thing is, there are differences between how some specific quests play out depending on what house your playing.

There's a good chance that we'll get a lot of spells as DLC. The game files reference a tonne of stuff that isn't currently accessible to the player in game that are flagged to be usable by the player; Patronus amongst them.

I didn't like how the game was made. To open all spells and animals, you must complete the story almost completely. And now you have opened everything and the end of the game, a bunch of side kill / bring. Mobs even on hard do not pose any danger. I do not use plants, since they are not needed, banks are only for hp and damage (and even then rarely). Why should I upgrade items at all? why should i go level 40?

I agree that plants can be pretty useless, especially in end-game... but it's pretty hilarious to watch a Chinese Chomping Cabbage take down an Infamous Foe all on its own. :steamhappy:

The story was pretty good, but yea - the RPG elements are surprisingly lackluster. If you're looking to make actual decisions you will be sorely disappointed.

As for the end; I'm not even sure what did happen to Sabastian's sister. Lockwood cursed her, and Lockwood is dead. Does that mean she's fine now? It's never really further elaborated upon.

Lmao my exact thoughts. And it's a pity. Maybe they did it exactly because they knew they will make money if they'll decide to make a second game

Not really. The only thing Seb says is that his sister no longer wants to see him. And it's literally a joke of an ending to his quest. MC says that he needs to give her time and maybe she'll be ready to forgive him, though. And I'm pretty sure curses stay even after casters death.
