I don't care at all about my "friends"

Besides Sabastian there's really not a single character that I liked in any way. Every Patty quest my character would go "oh boy I sure do hope Patty is alright" while I was constantly just thinking "I don't care at all about Patty".

There characters all feel way too much like caricatural goody two-shoes without much of a purpose. Again the only conflict that felt in any way relatable to me was Sabastians. Patty, the second character that gets forced up on me as a "friend" has a backdrop of "remember the time in Uganda???". Wtf am I supposed to do with that?

It's a fairly minor complaint considering it fits the universe and all, but for characters that were supposed to be people I had to get attached to I really didn't care for them.

Ye, that's the reason most people like Sebastian, everyone else feels "sterile" like the devs were afraid to offend people. Same thing with the main character, voice acting feels kinda meh, something tragic happening and he sounds casual about it.

Bruh while i wholeheartedly agree with the ugandan girl that feels extremely forced and that her motivations to help you feel nonsensical and over all comes as meddling as one can possibly get we have another classmate that just so happens to be living her own life and her quests are in my opinion really good and thats Poppy Sweething, she really takes you into a fantastic trip and her motivations are really her own, no bs like "they are a threat to us all cuz they happen to look like x" her poacher dislike is trully justified wont say more cuz of spolers.

Sebastians quest line is I think the only one with choices that actually change something in the state of the game world (unlike main quest which is retarded). That's on top of it being relatable.

Sebastians the only NPC who appealed to me… The rest of the “friends” were nerds and I wasn’t interested in hanging out with them.

Poppy was an idiot who always put herself in risky situations with beasts… the centaurs were such a gamble and don’t even get me started on the whole dragon thing.

I never forgave Natty for asking me to meet her about 5 miles away before the player unlocked the broom… and what does she have to say to me? She wanted to find an excuse to talk about Uganda. YOU COULD HAVE SAID THAT IN THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OWL MAIL

Poppy robbed me of my dragon egg, and stole the dragon closeup scene from the mc. also she comes off as so damn preachy, like a psycho vegan who would love a goat more than their own spouse.

As for Sebastian, i liked him, until he got the hair up his ass and started questioning every little thing i did or who i talked to, and tried guilt tripping my character over his sister, oh and with how creepy he came off about his sister towards the end lol

Also that whole thing with his uncle, yeah his uncle came off as a douche, but damn, his first thought of a spell to use against his uncle after a brief exchange is the killing curse, and than have the sheer audacity to claim that "he did not mean to"... not like he had other options he could have gone with, like disarming his uncle... or saying that the relic was designed to remove curses.. it was not exactly a heat of the moment scenario, he just did it to do it. honestly that whole segment was just bad and came off rushed tbh.

Though i did love how my character came off as a total socio/psycho-path after that event to learn the killing curse. "you had no choice... teach me the spell, everyone should know it, you were in the right."

I was indifferent to Natty tbh, but as for Amit... i found him kind of annoying after the first "companion mission" with him where he gives you the telescope, he was not a bad character, but just annoying (mostly because he would not shut up during the actual mission with him).

Sebastian was the only NPC whose dialogue gave you the choices of "now, later, or (depending on previous choices) never at all." Every other character had two choices with slight differences in flavor, but all wrapped around to the same identical outcome.

At least the smaller fetch quests for other students gave me the opportunity to be a jerk and keep the quest items. [But then that's problematic too, because you get the same rewards...]
Hearing them bark about my betrayal every time I pass them in the halls gives me a certain- if slight, sense that I had some impact on the game world...

True, but I'm sure a bunch of people feel differently. I find one of my biggest problems with entertainment in general now is that I can feel the writers creating characters they think are super cool based on their own personality, but the characters come across obnoxious and terrible.
I'm a cutscene skipper in general so its not really much of a problem for me, but I did find that in this game the cutscenes I DID watch were based on the story of the game in SPITE of the characters. Yes more about X animal; No Sebastian/Natty, I don't ever want to hear you speak again.
The only good character is Amit because he is awkwardly hilarious.

I think they base them off developers personalities.. Because thats all they know. And most devs are obnoxious and terrible..

and I've gotta say the only character i actually like is Professor Fig. he just seems like a nice likable old man. he's the only one though

Its because he's the only normal one. and by normal I mean fits the role he's in perfectly. Nothing has had to be forced. Nothing is out of place and nothing is there simply to appease anyone other than the person playing the game (heaven forbid)

Sebastian goes "off the rails". I get why he's Slytherin. He's driven, if not obsessed with healing his sister. Having said that, controlling Inferi doesn't advance that plan.

His uncle? Well, all I can say is when we fought the guy, the Inferi came for US and NEVER HIM. (I assumed he was summoning them)

Poppy? She has darned good reasons for disliking poachers. Imagine if you're allergic to eggs, and your parents feed you nothing but scrambled in the morning, boiled for lunch and omelettes for dinner.

More to the point, imagine you're a non-violent person and your parents force you to torture people.

Natty? I was under the impression she actually "liked", as in boyfriend / girlfriend, our character.
