Does anyone else find duelling really difficult?
There's just too many buttons and combinations of buttons to remember, especially when you're up against multiple opponents and I keep damn well pressing reparo instead of levioso!

just switch to story mode if its frustrating thats what i did, mainly because i was lvl 15 from doing all the side content i hadnt even unlocked talents at that stage lol so after i finished that part i switched to doing campaign main quests. mobs dont even do dmg to you so you can just smash them to get past a frustrating part with no drama ect.

Dont listen to these whom say its easy. cus there full of it. Yes its difficult at first, as someone else mention practice and muscle reflex is key.

Yes ! Because I'm colourblind & the only shield colour I can reliably tell apart is the blue. The other 3 look kind of the same in the field. AND they de-saturate the colours as you lose health.
It's cool that they include colour-blind modes, but they didn't help for this problem.
I've just accepted that when I'm playing on normal, Duels are on hard-mode.

If you've ever played batman, it's the same combat. So pretty easy. Though it takes a bit to get used to your spell combo's.

Just want to echo what was said here. Try to take combat a bit slower and focus on your defense queues and just the basic attack. Sprinkle in the debilitating spells here and there, don't stand in the poop circles, and you'll have a much better experience imo.

Yes. This game is horrible on KB&M because of this. Not so much memorizing the keys but being able to hit so many keys in a timely (half second response) manner.

The only reason I had issues with crossed wands is the targeting becomes completely borked and randomly switches targets even if you have a target lock(yes with the giant dot) leading to constantly casting the wrong color for the shield.

It was at first getting used to what spells does, also getting used to swapping spells around until i was able to unlock additional spell sets via talents. at all times when fighting keep one of each colour spell on your spell set

What was the biggest help for me was learning when to Protego/stupify and when to dodge, timing protego is just so satisfying, especially when you unlock the talent for it to do aoe damage
Loot Feb 18, 2023 @ 2:23pm
Just focus on one enemy. Keep juggling them while blocking / dodging attacks from the others. Finish that enemy and focus another until they're out. The more you spread out your attacks, the longer you have to avoid their attacks. The only issue I had with the duels was when their shields went invisible and I had to try different abilities until I got the right one.

On a side note: I play unlocked with M&K. I just rebound dodge to alt, so it's easier to use it when I need to.

I really don't know if this is of any help to you but consider spending a point in the room of requirement tree. There is a perk called "Maxima Potion Potency" which makes your basic attacks break through shields, no matter what color they are. You will be running through a lot of Maxima Potions though, so I don't know if thats much of help

It is easy when dealing with a single enemy or even a couple, but when dealing with multiple enemies doing that and managing to target the right enemy with the right spell can get difficult.
However defending and dodging is the most important, so as long as that is maintained then you can take your time to pick and attack a target.

Crossed Wands 3 is the hardest fight in the entire game by a huge margin. Nothing else comes even remotely close.

Focus on your head and wait for the enemy spell cast, hold Y, cast Stupify and then continue shooting until another enemy spell cast, hold Y, Stupify, etc, etc, etc.

The fight is easy when you adopt that perspective (of just waiting for that enemy spell cast and then holding Y).

I don't like doing finger gymnastics all over the keyboard like that

What are you talking about.

Pull / fire / lift / slam, dont forget to throw things, they hurt lots

Then cycle through the other attacks with the mouse wheel. super easy.

I have 2 attack sets, one utility / stealth set, the other has light / repair with the last two i swap out for spells not used much (building, animal capture)

My problem comes from my defense, Q for the shield and CTRL for dodge roll can get interesting when surrounded. i changed heal to E though as i found trying to press G in an intense battle, failed miserably

Its a shame PC has to miss out on a tried and tested UI bar to accommodate Console players though, a more MMORPG UI bar for spells that utilize all the number keys would have been much better for Keyboard and mouse players.
