Pointless In Building Pet Pens
So here is my point, they have given us various fence pieces but no gates to walk into the pen and keep them in there, you then obviously do not want a massive breeding pen in each beast pen either so you breed them in there and then they just walk out into where they are not supposed to be anyway, this part of the game was not really thought out very well, so sad.

With the exception of the three beast items, everything else you can build in there is just for decoration, none of it serves any function unfortunately.

Yeah that is what i meant, they give you loads of building pieces to make a fantastic vivarium for them and it is all pointless, did they not think for one second that alot or all people would love to separate their pets in their own pens.

I think you are missing the point a bit. The idea isn't to 'capture and hold' the beasts in pens, but to give them a safe haven from poachers. The intentionality of leaving out options to lock up beasts, seems to support that idea.

They give you fences and various other parts to do just this but no gates making the fences useless.

Very disappointing. Separating different species and giving them each their own enclosure is a part of proper care.
I don't want my niffler to get stepped on by a unicorn.

Yeah man, going round each enclosure and seeing each one is my idea of keeping them, all muddled together to me is just a nope.

certain beasts do get along with specific others and have preferred locales to stay in

Yeah i know, like one of the main parts you find a unicorn out in the wild they are cohabiting with the little furry buggers, cant remember their name lol, utilising the entire biome as their area is good but i would of loved them to stay in their enclosures, did not wanna have to run around everywhere to find them, i have them in their right biomes but still the rooms are huge.

I find it stupid that people are trying to remind of the the games story as if we haven't played it.... Yes we know the beasts are in there for protection from poachers...

BUT the reality is, we are metagaming trying to make it more efficient to get the stupid things fed and brushed...

It isn't difficult to have both options available.

Option 1 being that fences work for people that are trying to not waste so much time
and
Option 2 being that you don't have to use fences if you are awaiting your application to PETA

I agree with OP, it's sad and I haven't got time to work around their oversight.
(Just use mods and give yourself items every 25 minutes rather than spending another 25 minutes messing about)

No, they mean you can literally summon your beasts and they will respawn directly in front of you. It's one of the commands in the beast menu. I think LB/L1 on controllers.

It's not immersive for folks who want a functional vivarium but this was clearly just a slightly functional distraction. It's not necessary to farm and breed to beat the game and very little is required as part of the side quests.

It's meant to be a place you return to between missions. You shouldn't be just sitting there waiting for the buggers to get their groove on. The game has plenty of other things you can do.

Heck, I managed to get the breed every beast achievement and the toughest part was getting the right gender to spawn for Unicorn and Graphorn. The vivarium side of the game is really simplistic and doesn't need much special attention to get it running and fueling your gear upgrades.
