Way, way, way too easy.
On Hard difficulty you can... Go immortal with 1 talent point for Edurus potions. Say it with me... Immortal. Merely keep pressing Tab to pause the game, or whatever key you have, and keep clicking the potion you can carry 12 of with no cool down. Died? Don't worry. Everything you had or used before you died will come right back to your inventory. Hard... Do I even need to touch on Thunderbrew+Maxima?

The character kill mechanic is laughably easy. No matter how hard you get chunked or how bad you play, your character will go invulnerable automatically at 0% life. It is here than you can take as many health potions as you want, even while lying on the ground with no animation that you drank the potion. There are no cooldowns on health potions either, thus making Hard once again seem silly easy.

Yes, this is a Harry Potter game that was made for a large audience and console gamers. That will never, ever be a reason to have created the easiest Hard mode of any RPG ever.
Get rid of Edurus immortality and get rid of the cheat death that has 0 cooldown. There are a lot of very good adaptations to combat in Hard in this game... But none of that matters if you can live invulnerable and cheat death in your sleep. The only way I had any fun toward the mid to late game (Btw this game was disgustingly short) was by setting my own rules for never using buff potions or game breaking talents.

Thanks for reading.

Yeah so big surprise, the noobs never read the full post, so let me help you...

As mentioned by another commend to, you can literally, with no potions or plants on hard, walk into 20 enemies and devastate them. I am doing everything possible to ignore what the game is giving me and making it as hard as possible on my own. That means the developers dropped a huge F in creating a challenging game...

Thank you for nothing reading my post and reacting to the banner.

I love this game op and I have to agree the game has amazing combat and great mechanics but its cut short and made way too easy by simply making every little thing you do obliterate everything in your path before applying any buffs or enchantments.

its simply just an easy af game from the get go. playing on story mode is basically the difficulty a 3 year old could beat. hard is what I would refer to as the normal "easy" the average game has. no where near enough challenge to be referred to as hard

i like to play games for fun. i dont know where this 'muh challenj' rubbish came from where game playing is supposed to be better if its frustrating as hell and too hard to do except with pure luck or some glitch. not everyone has time to play games 24/7 and some of us want to enjoy and have fun, not be made to feel like having brain surgery without anaesthetic, as well as having teeth and nails pulled out at the same time.

it proves to me some people mistake pain and frustration for pleasure!

on a more serious note, maybe another difficulty for the people who didnt find the game hard at all should be every enemy has 50 times the players health and one shots them. something like that. im not sure they can make a new harder enemy AI without breaking the game for the silent majority of casual players.

for the record, i only play the game on story mode. my main gripes with the game are the unavoidable sallow storyline, which is all i will say to avoid further spoilers.
yes this is why you have a normal easy AND story mode. for this reason. but many of us who actually want to get involved with the mechanics on a deeper level and have challenging gameplay are cut short majorly.

nothing is stopping you from enjoying the game casually and easy. but nothing is allowing us to have an actual in depth challenge.
i edited my reply above but recap here: the devs need to maximise the market, so some compromises are made when balancing difficulty.

however i see no reason why if they are updating the game regularly they cannot add things such as a 'dark arts rising' mode where dark wizards are pretty much winning so the difficulty is way above the current hard level by several leagues!

Well, you could.....you know, challenge yourself by not using potions...unless a mission requires the use of them, like the special assignments from the professors.

man seriously expected dark souls of the wizarding world

Even then it's the same as DS or ER since if you really wanted you can just grind up and make the game laughable.

Dark souls 1 I tried a pure strength build and done all bosses without pressing dodge once
(never played DS2 because i heard it bad)
Dark souls 3 you literally just have to play a dex parry build and you can beat the game with minimal difficulty
Bloodborne a pure magic build can one shot most bosses
Elden ring you could play a magic build and kill bosses before they even reached you. Don't get me started on all the other builds that made it OP af

The hard mode difficulty is fine as it is. play on easy and see the night and day difference between it. But yes. using items designed to make the game easier...make the game easier. good job.

game is grossly easy without potions. grossly easy in general. I can beat the game on hard with no gear with the basic combat spells rather easily.

its not user error. its game design sad to say. game is great literally love the combat. but its just too easy. nothing really challenges you or even remotely makes you think "maybe I should use the potions or enchant my gear" its all just obliterate everything in your path with ease.

its not bad game design, it just makes the in depth mechanics and cool potions and plants completely moot when the first spells you get (and everything else) can obliterate everything with ease vanilla.

Just what I was thinking. But people complaining about the presence of some features are often lacking self-control.

i don't think it's "too easy" on hard. you need to collect ingredients for edurus, which is easy but still laborious, and it only lasts 20 seconds or so. harder enemies are very bullet-spongy, so you won't be able to do much in those 20 seconds. not dying when reaching 0 health is for a single hit only, i.e. if you have >0 hp when hit, you don't die, but the next hit will kill you, and with many fast enemies attacking you it's pretty easy to miss the time window to drink a potion. but this mechanic is mostly about potion management - do you have enough health potions for a tough fight?
and then there are fights like the 3rd trial, when you have to use a canned build with no custom spells/potions/talents, which was pretty hard for me (as the fight is purely reflex-based)

Is this a troll post? I've had my character die once, and the game went straight to reload checkpoint/save, no invulnerability, no chance to drink a potion, just reload and try again.

You don't even need potions. The Disillusionment spell and cabbage are all you need. They kill everything but skeletons but just use the Mandrake to stun them and its easy, and don't even need to fight
