Way, way, way too easy.
On Hard difficulty you can... Go immortal with 1 talent point for Edurus potions. Say it with me... Immortal. Merely keep pressing Tab to pause the game, or whatever key you have, and keep clicking the potion you can carry 12 of with no cool down. Died? Don't worry. Everything you had or used before you died will come right back to your inventory. Hard... Do I even need to touch on Thunderbrew+Maxima?

The character kill mechanic is laughably easy. No matter how hard you get chunked or how bad you play, your character will go invulnerable automatically at 0% life. It is here than you can take as many health potions as you want, even while lying on the ground with no animation that you drank the potion. There are no cooldowns on health potions either, thus making Hard once again seem silly easy.

Yes, this is a Harry Potter game that was made for a large audience and console gamers. That will never, ever be a reason to have created the easiest Hard mode of any RPG ever.
Get rid of Edurus immortality and get rid of the cheat death that has 0 cooldown. There are a lot of very good adaptations to combat in Hard in this game... But none of that matters if you can live invulnerable and cheat death in your sleep. The only way I had any fun toward the mid to late game (Btw this game was disgustingly short) was by setting my own rules for never using buff potions or game breaking talents.

Thanks for reading.

The game has great combat mechanics but I agree, the difficulty is laughable, I hardly used potions and didnt really dabble in the gear and still made it through the entire game hardly ever dying or being challenged by anything on hard mode.

Im even using a mod now that supposedly makes hard even harder and its still very easy.

throw in a few extremely easy to get for free potions or enchantments and you are basically immortal.

You could just, you know, not use those things.

When I realized how strong the Thunderbrew potion was, I just... stopped using it. It's not a core ability and is tucked away such that it can be easily ignored. You have agency in your difficulty, you don't have to use things you find too strong.

I hardly used anything and found the game extremely easy. the implementation of all of these gear enchantments and potions effects etc is a shame considering on hard with just basic spells you can demolish everything in your path with ease.

That is not completely true. There are certain attacks (like the thunder attack) that will instantly kill you if you happen to stay in it. Sure it is telegraphed attack so mostly easy to avoid.

You know....i'm going to be the controversy here BUT. I kinda like that it is easy.

I play it mostly for the atmosphere and the immersion. And I kind of feel overpowered, and I like that.

If I wanted to punish myself I would dive into the Dark Souls Series.

I like it the way it is.....

I would however agree with the fact that difficulty could be an option.

I like it, personally. I often play games to relax, and don't want to be frustrated by this game, so that's just me. I like it for the exploration, the magic, and everything else. If you're looking for a challenge, there are definitely many other games that cater to that, like Elden Ring.

And you know what? Its quite possible that the game is popular exactly because its easy. It is after all a singleplayer action RPG power fantasy.

my main issue is. why even have a "hard" difficulty when hard is actually super easy.

and then under hard we have normal...easy...AND story mode.

as if hard wasnt laughably easy to begin with idk why anyone would want to play on story mode. I can only imagine that mode is the game just doing combat for you automatically as you sit there and watch.

dont get me wrong I looooove this game. but the in depth systems they have that are cool mostly regarding the room of requirement are ALL for nothing if there is no reason to do them at all is what im saying.

I have little to no reason to increase the dmg of incendio on all my armor if by default incendio already destroys everything rather easily. yknow?

Honestly I haven't tried that yet but I'm enjoying the combat, if you're finding it too easy when doing certain things and aren't enjoying that then I recommend not doing those things and instead do it a more difficult way that you can enjoy. Nobody is forcing you to play the way you're playing.

this.

i like to play games for fun. i dont know where this 'muh challenj' rubbish came from where game playing is supposed to be better if its frustrating as hell and too hard to do except with pure luck or some glitch. not everyone has time to play games 24/7 and some of us want to enjoy and have fun, not be made to feel like having brain surgery without anaesthetic, as well as having teeth and nails pulled out at the same time.

it proves to me some people mistake pain and frustration for pleasure!

on a more serious note, maybe another difficulty for the people who didnt find the game hard at all should be every enemy has 50 times the players health and one shots them. something like that. im not sure they can make a new harder enemy AI without breaking the game for the silent majority of casual players.

also, those question the difficulty hard existing 'when it is easy': you fell into the usual trap of assuming everyone is as hardcore and competent a gamer as you. a lot more people than you realise will find hard mode much harder (even too hard) than the people who are complaining its too easy. the devs of all games need to balance the difficulty levels to maximise the appeal across the widest market possible - or they dont make money and go out of business.
and it is possible to kill these franchises by getting it wrong. halo seems to be dead now, and george lucas himself said that it was possible if he got the prequel movies wrong he could kill the star wars franchise.

for the record, i only play the game on story mode. my main gripes with the game are the unavoidable sallow storyline, which is all i will say to avoid further spoilers.

yes this is why you have a normal easy AND story mode. for this reason. but many of us who actually want to get involved with the mechanics on a deeper level and have challenging gameplay are cut short majorly.

nothing is stopping you from enjoying the game casually and easy. but nothing is allowing us to have an actual in depth challenge.

its also funny how often people compare this game to elden ring. its hogwarts and more like a chill game. i like to call it "hogwarts student simulator".

This isn't Dark Souls and also the target group seems to be kids and adolescents so of course the difficulty is as it is ( maybe some modders will make difficulty mods)
