Question for Potter nerds
Don't know if it was ever written or explained in the books somewhere. But just out of morbid curiosity I wanted to ask.

Is it possible for one to cast the Avada Kedavra spell on themselves?

That is the age-old question.
sounds like a "why not". A spell is a spell, while a gun doesn't stop shooting when it's pointing at the user himself. The only thing that may stop it's full potential is the wand being use which is kinda plot armor

\My wand won't let me do it. We have a connection.

I guess i'd have to be using a cursed wand...
Nerds is right my man.

It is impossible; for that you need to cast Iwanna Dianao.

Oh yeah I forgot about that, wands in this universe are almost sentient to the extent that they understand the wielder's intentions hmmm can't be nonsense because it must be magic.

Other spells work on yourself, nice or naughty, so probably. Ofc avada needs you to really want to kill the other guy so you'd have to think of yourself as a real pos most likely. Like wake up and look in the mirror and just start smack talking yourself out of hatred levels of wanting yourself to die.

Do they though? Why can't I levitate myself using leviosa or rocket jump across the map by pointing my wand at myself and casting expelliarmus?

Don't even get me started on accio.

Absolutely DO NOT get started on Accio because if you cast Accio on yourself you create a black hole.

Yes. It's also one of the many reasons why JK Rowling didn't want trans people in the Harry Potter canon.

It goes to show that there is no crack or opening so small that a wedge cannot be forced into it.

Well I mean some spells don't work on living targets at all but for instance the slug spell, Ron successfully casts it, but his broken wand doesn't direct it at the other guy, instead he casts it on himself, Lockhart does the same with obliviate. We're told that people hurt themselves with spells quite a few times and that people set themselves on fire with spells like incendio. So we know you can definitely cast a spell on yourself. There's actually a whole department in the ministry for reversing spells when people have magical accidents and mess themselves/others up.

But again, for avada to work on yourself it's likely you couldn't be depressed and sad with the world, you'd have to hate yourself and want to murder yourself.

I would say yes but if not you can always cast Imperius and then have them do it to you instead... right? or is it just movelement imperius controls, not voice?

Sure, but you're talking about accidents and malfunctions; not deliberate attempts.

Why would that matter? You point your wand the wrong way or your wand is in a condition that the way becomes you and cast a spell it still hurts you so why wouldn't it if you were pointing it the right way and the right way just happened to be "at yourself"?
You cast a spell that you didn't know would hurt yourself and get hurt, so why would that change if you knew it'd hurt yourself? and so on.
