it's fun when you have many spells (and unlocked all "spell wheels") and once you've unlocked more things. this game likes unlocking features very late.
like, I wouldn't be surprised if some people had refunded/abandoned the game while still being in hogwarts because they found it boring, not knowing yet that there's a big open world too and many features not yet unlocked.
I guess this is a flaw of the game design...
p.s. with 73 hours this might not be the OP's case, though.
@OP how many features had you unlocked?
But overall, I can completely understand (and mostly agree) the feelings some people have about HL being a generic and mediocre RPG. The world is large but feels very empty and the details are nice. But it doesn't at all feel like you're a student at a school, classes do nothing but allow story progression and to give you the secondary task of learning a new spell you'll need for later.
Using the unforgivable curses has almost zero impact on anything, save some dialogue changes. Scouring the map is mostly done either for the story or just for collectibles (good for those 100% achievers) and it's disappointing to see that several aspects are undercooked, like spell casting and the lack of quidditch for another.
If this wasn't a game made with the HP brand, I can't say it would be receiving the accolades it's currently getting. I see why some people like it, I see why some don't. But games like Skyrim, The Witcher and even Dragon Age have done the RPG formula better imho.
Had the same feeling.
Also refunded it due to performance related issues.
