Should this be played without fast travel?
I am still at the beginning, but so far I think its better. The world has so much detail that is missed.

If you wanna waste your time. Go for it.
The world is very generic, e.g. the side dungeons are all copy paste...

I usually walk around and usually avoid fast travel. Not just in this game, in almost every game i prefer to walk around and look for details in the environment. Beautiful thing can be found in this game if you are fine with taking your time.
I hate fast travel, so I've only used it a couple of times. Each to their own though.

Same, people spend thousends of hours designing the enviroment, and fast travel makes the player skip it all. Not to mention that some games become completely new experiences without fast travel.

I don't use it unless forced, personally.

I follow this strict policy-
1) If it's the first time I'm visiting the location, I go on foot (not on broom/ beast).
2) Once I have the map revealed (even if I get the floo powder fast travel point), I'd go there on broom/ beast until I take care of all the quests, hidden secrets & loot in the area.
3) After this, if I still need to travel to the same area (for Eg. Killing some types of enemies for achievements or getting another quest there), I use fast travel.
4) If I need to travel further from an already explored area, I use fast travel till the area that I've covered and begin from there.
5) For travelling to areas such as room of requirement, etc., which require you to get back to your plants or potions, I use floo powder as well.
Sometimes I Fast travel, sometimes I walk, sometimes I use the broom whatever I feel like....why all the exclusivety? Do whatever you feel like, it's meant to be fun. If Fast traveling isn't fun don't do it, but keep your mind open for the next time...maybe you feel like it then...

foo powder was an invention in the wizarding world LORE XD respect the Inventor for this amazing fire !!...

but for that i wish they make the fire place for foo powder like big like in the movies a person can walk right in and say DAIGON Alley... not diagonally

I use hippogriff to travel unless I'm going back to Hogwarts from open world or hogsmeade, since i usually go straight to the Room of Requirement and it's a long run through the castle to get there

It gets tedious especially when you're doing alot of back-and-forth due to side quests. But flying is viable, just for me, it's not fast enough.
Played all open world games the last 30 years, apart the main quest and FEW sidequests, the outworld is generic and locations are copy paste , they are not even close to most ubisoft worlds/maps , here is nothing to be found where you have a "cool" or "woow" effect and loot is terrible , so even no searching for special, unique items.

Think it's best to just use it off and on not every-time.

I use it as a substitute for the sadly missing Apparition spell. Looking forward to that one eventually getting modded in.
