However, i have found sometimes it doens't work. It does however, work the vast majority of the time.
That said, someone else made a similar complaint earlier today. So it is possible this is bugged for some.
I'm not sure you can skip the shorter, repetitive dialog you mention. But you can skip the story dialogs.
Edit: a must when talking to Deek, you can zip through changing the lights in a few seconds.

Worst part is it was from a movie I actually watched. So now I am a sad panda.
