DXGI flip model doesn't offer Fullscreen Exclusive mode. It's a relic of DX10/DX11 and is considered depreciated. Almost all DX12 and Vulkan games will no longer use the API to handle swap chains, instead they use DXGI's flip model to bypass DWM and go "down to the metal" and let the hardware do it.

It's normal.

...phew... and there he goes again. smh. OK. thanks?

I don't know what else you want. It's like asking for your new automobile to have a carburetor instead of fuel injection. They stopped using them because it's old tech and something better replaced it. The fact you want it or the reasons why you want it is irrelevant. The tech already moved on and the industry adopted the new thing decades ago.

Same thing here, that's why so few games even offer it anymore.

The primary reason FSE vanished is that devs do not have to use the graphics API to handle swap chains anymore. Whether it was FSE or Borderless Windowed, both had API overhead and engineering costs during development, FSE just had slightly less overhead and so was generally preferred. The newer DXGI flip model's Windowed Fullscreen mode that replaced both has been agreed upon by the industry to be better so that's what a lot of games use now. The DXGI flip model was actually introduced back in DX11.1, but because of SLI/CFX requiring FSE mode, the industry delayed it's adoption until SLI was phased out/useless, which was a few GPU generations ago now.

I agree with you that it's annoying to have to switch to DSR/VSR desktop resolutions to use them in games, but that's what we got to do if we want to use downsampling.

Well thanks to everyone replying back. I take it there will be no true full screen option. Just this lame asss F/W option.

Yep seems here to stay, you'd probably have to boycott all DX12 games to avoid needing to use Windowed Fullscreen.

i wish people would just stop with these explanations. WHY must we keep having to explain ourselves over and over. For some of us, this has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with performance. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DSR to get higher resolutions in the game which dramatically improves the visual fidelity 1000X more. My native res is 3440 x 1440 but when i turn on DSR i can do 5160 x 2160 which makes the game look much much much better. unfortunately the only way i can apply it now it to set the resolution in desktop before entering the game and revert back to native manually once i exit the game. This is a real inconvience for me as i dont have to do this in all my other treasured titles like RD2, Spiderman remastered, Miles Morales etc. THIS IS THE PROBLEM for a lot of us. So Please stop with the performance talk.
Again, those are 2 completelly different things. A game can use DXGI flip model and at the same time offer changing resolution.

What most people here don't even realize is they haven't seen exclusive fullscreen in a while, as Windows 10 will use flip model for games that request FSE. Flip model is pretty much the new FSE, as it bypasses the DMW, but without the limitations of FSE.

Maybe there are reasons that elude me but because of another thread about this topic I did the .ini changes and I have higher frame rates in exclusive fullscreen than downscaled borderless with the exact same settings in options.
But the option for exclusive fullscreen should be there regardless, just for convenience. Flat out not giving people the option for it is dumb, even if DX12 allegedly runs so much better in windowed.
Obviously, you can activate it in the .ini, so it's not like it's technically impossible.
Also, HL is the first DX12 game that does this for me.
