DLSS 3 Frame Generation
Hi everyone,

I hope you're all doing very well. Just purchased a 4070 TI and booted up Hogwarts Legacy to try it out with Frame Generation. The option is greyed out in the menu even though it works perfectly fine in Cyberpunk 2077.

Any idea what could cause this and how to resolve it?
Thank you for your time :)

Mine is not greyed out. Verify your drivers for not only your GPU, but chipset and even random windows updates.

You must first chose UPSCALE TYPE -> NVIDIA DLSS for it to become available.

All drivers are up to date, DLSS Quality is enabled. As I said, it works flawlessly in Cyberpunk 2077 so I have really no clue what's going on. Tried playing with the settings without avail.

Do you have hardware accelerated GPU scheduling turned on in Windows?

Yes, it is enabled. As I said, it works without a hitch in Cyberpunk.

Enable dlss and then enable frame generation. Then turn dlss off and frame generation will still be enabled. This is how I can play at 4k maxed with a 4090. If I dont use FG then my perf is poop.

I just verified my game files and turns out and there was one missing. Frame Generation can now be enabled.

Thanks everyone!

I'm having the same problem with a 3080. DLSS on, GPU scheduling on, current drivers, current win10 22H2 update, and I also verified the files since that helped you, but no missing file and no luck.

Does the 3080 not support frame generation?

Frame generation is currently limited to series 40xx GPUs. It is not clear whether previous cards really have hardware limitations that would prevent frame generation from working well (which is what nVidia has indicated), or whether this was a marketing decision in order to make more people upgrade to a 40xx GPU (wouldn't be the first time that nVidia limits the availability of useful features for exactly that purpose).

Doesn't.

Exclusive to 4070 ti, 4080 and 4090

Standard operating practice for the monopolistic giants. Microsoft routinely refuses to allow new DirectX features to be back-ported, even though the limiting factor is the hardware and not the OS.
