The other thing that is odd is that it says the quest reward is Alohamora II and III but I already know Alohamora II from the previous step where you collect 9.
Yeah, the reward says both II and III as soon as he gives it to you and doesn't update the reward to remove II once you've learnt it.
Not being able to talk with him is weird, bit of a long shot but I'd try running a file validation check on steam, just incase there is something wonky there.
So, once I picked up the quests in town it let me grab it.
First, demiguise moons can only be picked up at night. If your student mentions there's a statue but didn't say something like "You're mine now demiguise," it's not night regardless what it looks like outside. It could look like daylight outside, but the game considered it night. The demiguise must be glowing.
Second, the count in the quest only goes up after handing them in. You could have the Steam cheevo for finding all demiguise (which is much more than what is required for finishing all three stages of the quest), but the quest could say 0/9 until you hand them in.
Third, it says the reward is levels 2 and 3 of the spell at the same time even though that part is two steps.
ALSO DO NOT SCREAM AT US HERE BY CAPS!!
