Raytracing ON or OFF Visual take
so i have a 4090 and though i can run the game with it on, i dont really get stable frame rates as my FPS can drop down to the 50s sometimes but it got me wondering, Does anyone really see any real or significant difference with RT on/off visually? i have tried to look and i just dont see it or am i missing something ? the performance cost to have it on seems too heavy a load to bear if the results arent easily decernable

the only thing is reflections i think the non raytracing ao actually looks better than raytraced.

Short answer: No. The game runs better without RT and it doesn't look that better with it on. I saw black patterns on surfaces with shadow RT turned on. So if you want a smooth game with high FPS rather than some slightly better lightings, turn RT off.

The shadows look softer and way more correct in RT on too

4090 and a 5900x

All ultra including rt, ini tweaks for better rt etc. Dlss and frame gen on, performance is excellent although I have disabled Ray traced shadows as I found through thorough testing that it was this setting that caused poor frame times.

RT is too subtle for the performance hit cost most of the time in games, so I keep it off. The game looks very good without RT anyway.

I like what RT brings to the game but it needs a lot of work. It's so weird you can turn it on and everything seems great for a few minutes then your fps drops by 70 out of nowhere.

It doesn't matter what settings either, med, low, ultra. Doesn't matter if you just turn reflections on and leave the others off, Having RT on in any capacity results in crazy drops in fps and increased latency.. Shame.

32GB 3600MHz cl14 ram
4070ti 1440p g-sync

Set fps cap in nvcp to something reasonable.

If that doesn't completely work look at my last posts before this one in my profile. Look at the engine.ini edits. I was seeing and saying exactly the same thing about my 3070\5800X3D\32GB system days ago, but the ini edits in my last post fixed them for me... I would just use it as a reference, but maybe something about it will fix it for you.

I can play all ultra+ high rtx all on 1440p DLSSp on 3070 60fps. Before I got exact same result, I could have all low in quality... still any rtx option killed it in places like that circle bush outdoor area outside hogwarts entrance, and inside that door it was terrible... now its gone, and that is the only spot I see any fps drop in now (because its heavy area).

*You must cap with nvcp, do not use in game cap leave at uncapped. The limiter is terrible.

Yes RT is Heavily broken, for me RT works decntly, if I put texture quality to low or medium, everything above just breaks it. I've noticed it is bcs of the HUGE amounts of Vram this game takes in. I hope they are able to fix this so i can run this on ultra textures while RT'ed.

Also have an 4070 TI + AMD 5600x + 32GB 3600mhz cl14 ram

Texture of water in some areas are causing big lag spikes. I would turn it off till they patch the texture fix so it's not mirror shatter textures of water everywhere.
