At the start when you first leave the castle to go to Hogsmeade it said you have to return to your common room at night.

What happens if you don't return?

I'm exploring the world map getting the Floo Flames.

If you get caught staying out too late too many times they attach a ball and chain to your leg.

What should happen: a few guard students and professors here and there that can port you back to your common room if you are cought.
Would make sneaking out at night way more fun

You can use unforgivable curses with no consequences either.

Only curvey mechanics are related to the Alohomora quests and the like. It was probably a part of the whole game, but then cut.
